I have been taking enbrel for over a year now, and have come down with a
whopper of a sinus infection or the flu that is going around, is this
something many have gotten on enbrel? The headache is about enough to put
you over the edge!

Hi Becky,,,,  I am going to say yes to your question.   With any anti-tnf
and/or DMARD, sinus infection can be a battle to clean up.   Please do not
put off getting a doctors help to get it well.

Thanks Harv,
I stared a 3 day course of zithromax today, it is 500mg for three days, I
guess that is new since it used to be a six day regime. Hope that helps, am
supposed to take the enbrel tonight and the family doc didn't really seem to
know what to do but I don't think I am suppose to take it if I have an
infection so will wait a couple days and see how I am.
Thanks
Becky

It's a very good idea to stop Enbrel until you are sure you're over whatever
you have.  It's probably just a virus, maybe one that went into a sinus
infection - you might have been more susceptible because of the enbrel, but I
doubt that's why you go it.  You'd be having this more often if that were the
case.

However, using enbrel with something like that can allow some really nasty,
evil secondary infections to develop.  Both my docs want me off enbrel during
any crud I come down with and when I've had infections I make very sure it's
cleared up before restarting enbrel.
