Autoimmune Disorders & Airborne

Hey Y'all--

I have a positive ANA, the HLA-B27 gene marker, fibromyalgia, and
hypothyroidism. The doctor's are currently trying to decide if I have
IBS or IBD, the bloodwork should come back next week. Hopefully they
will decide that the bloodwork is conclusive enough not to need to
scope.

When I was misdiagnosed with RA and later AS, I was instructed to not
take herbs like echinacea because it interfered with autoimmune
disorders. To my knowledge, FMS is not autoimmune, and since the
doctor's don't think I have AS (even though I have the gene marker and
positive ANA) is it safe for me to take echinacea and medicine like
airborne?

I know y'all aren't doctors. What have you been told regarding taking
medicines that help strengthen your immune system during winter-time?
I'm not looking to take echinacea everyday, but would like to know if
it's safe to take airborne before I get on an airplane full of sick
people to fly home to my parent's house for Thanksgiving.

Thanks In Advance,
Ashley

PS: I got my flu shot this morning and will be seeing my doctor
regarding this later in the month. Just curious what y'all think.

Ashley, sorry I can't answer anything, but hope you get all the info you
need from your doctor.  Anyway, have a nice Thanksgiving trip.

Most of us with auto-immune disorders like RA don't take echinacea
because it really works well at ramping up the immune system and most
of the 'effective' treatments for controlling RA suppress the immune
system. There are a few exceptions. If you have no problems that are
made worse by a healthy immune response than Airborne shouldn't be a
problem. Airborne does contain echnacea along with several other immune
system boosters.

Remember, taking advise from strangers on the internet might not be the
best way to go.>g<
Good luck with not catching the flu...
