something ducky wrote in my "ok, somebody please explain this to me" thread,
got me thinking about strange people who have passed through my life.
soooo, i thought it would be fun to do a "strange halloween survey".

1.  what was the strangest costume you've ever worn?
     an orange garbage bag, stuffed with crumpled newspapers.  well, butch
and i both were pumpkins that year.LOL

2.  what was the strangest costume you've ever seen?
       somebody dressed up like a leper.  it was really nauseating.

3.  what was the strangest treat ever put into your halloween candy bag,
when you were a kid?
                    a sewing thimble.

4.  what was the strangest thing that ever happened to you, or around you,
on or around the time for halloween?
             when i was a young teen in san francisco, there used to be a
public halloween dance/party on 16th and mission streets every year.  our
whole family attended.  somehow, spontaneously i got lifted up over
somebody's head and passed around, overhead, from group to group.  i wasn't
the only one, but it was sure a strange feeling.

5.  what was the strangest thing you've ever eaten at halloween time?
        cold noodles in a halloween haunted house our church youth group
created.  i was blindfolded first and told to eat them and then, they told
me the noodles were worms.  bleah.

6.  what was the strangest beverage you ever drank at halloween time?
               green blood.  it was what the punch was called.

7.  what was the strangest trick you ever played on halloween?
              i never did play halloween tricks, but my brother was great
at that.

8.  what was the strangest thing you ever did on halloween?
                i gave my candy to a stranger.

9.  where was the strangest place you've ever spent halloween?
               on a chair in the kitchen, cuz i was being punished.

10.  what was the strangest thing you wanted to be for halloween?
                 an apple with coins sticking out of me.  but i couldn't
make the costume work.  so, i was a lion tamer, instead.

11.  what was the strangest house like, that you visited on halloween?
                 it was an old victorian, in san francisco.  it really was
run down, normally.  but the owners made it look even scarier, with angel
hair cobwebs all over it, foggy mists creeping up from the ground. and there
was psychotic sounds of laughter and screams coming from different windows.
i'm getting the willies even now, just thinking about it.

12.  what was the strangest story you've heard about halloween?
                i was a kid in connecticut, at the time.  it was told by my
junior high school history teacher.  it was a story about a teenager who
fought and died in the revolutionary war.  the teen supposedly haunted the
school and stole things around halloween, mostly food, from people's lockers
in the gym locker rooms (which were down in one of the schools two basement
levels).  supposedly, the school was built on the teen's family's farmhouse
spot.

13.  what strange thing gave you the creeps on halloween?
              the big black ants from the pear tree out front of our house
on whiting street in new brittain.  somehow, they got into my candy bag,
when it was just sitting on the stoop for a minute or two.

14.  who was the strangest person you've ever met on halloween?  (describe
the person.)
           a drunk who kept asking for a piece of my or my sister's candy.
i left my whole bag of candy on the sidewalk, just so we could get away from
him.  it worked.  he really did want the candy.

15.  and finally, what strange thing made halloween the most fun for you?
                     the weirdest party, where nothing was allowed to be
normal.  it was soooo fun!

             A streaker, at a ssquare dance about 20 years ago.

     Dad owned a grocery store and gave S&H Green Stamps.
     One Halloween a group of us (high school students) took
     an advertising banner from the store, went downtown and
     tied it to a mortuary.

     The following year we took a sign from the butcher shop -
     GROUND ROUND   3#/$1.00  and strung it on a mortuary.

   Initiation into a campus group.   We were blindfolded and
   had to walk forward with an index finger out straight.
   After several minutes of "pinning the tail on the donkey"
   type searches, I felt the finger sinking into a gooey mass.
   You can imagine the thoughts that run through your mind
   in a situation like that.   <g>   Turned out to be jar of peanut
   butter.
