Who thinks UP these tests?? Got to the hospital about 8:45 this morning.
Took me back about 9:00 ish. Put me in gown and robe and gave me a little
jug of mud to drink. I tried...I really, really tried, but my stomach had
other ideas. The tech said do as much as you can and then we want you to
walk to get it into your intestines. Okay, walk up the hallway, walk down
the hallway. Pass the other lady going through the same thing on her laps.
Tried another swallow with the same result. Ick! Walk some more, collapse
into the chair in the dressing room and rest. Xray time. Nope, not down far
enough, let's try a different drink. This one is more like milk of magnesia.
Get almost half of it down right away before stomach realised what I was
doing. Had to stop, breath and walk. Another xray. We did the sip, walk,
xray bit for hours...xray every 30 minutes with me on my stomach. Finally,
about 11:30ish, the tech says it's far enough down they can give me some
juice. I quickly drink 2 cups of OJ and start the laps again. The OJ worked!
The xray at noon shows the barium starting into the large intestine. They
take me into a different room and I have a seat to wait until the
radiologist is free. I climb onto the table, at least this time I can lay on
my back. The machine doesn't work. Sigh. They reboot everything and now it's
working. The radiologist (who is the only one covered in lead-lined robes),
steps up with a long paddle with a large ball on the end. He explains the
small intestines are like a bowl of spaghetti and that's his 'spoon' to move
them around. He takes about four or five pictures, says that's it, and
leaves. The tech comes back in and says I can get dressed and go home, but
to drink lots of fluids.

Now comes the waiting part of these tests. Waiting for the radiologist to
read the xrays and put the results into the computer. Waiting for my
Gastroenterologist to read the results and decide the next step. Waiting for
the GI doc's office to call and tell me where to show up next and to find
out what the next unpleasantness will be.

Thank you to all for your prayers and good vibes. I really felt you with me
today!

((((((((((((((deetee))))))))))))   geesh, thank goodness that's overwith!  i
think i'd have been halfway home after the second tummy rebellion.  you're a
stronger woman than i am and that's for certain!

i'm hanging in there with you, hon.  here's hoping your radiologist,
gastro-dude and g.i. doc  have a lot of totally idle time on their hands and
get to your xrays and back to you, quicker than expected.

Oh DeeTee,

I am sorry you had to go thru that all. I sure hope this gives them the
