I just got my CTAP amplified phone. It is a blessing, especially since
I am looking for a job and seem to spend a lot of time on the phone
with headhunters.

If you plan on spending a lot of time on the phone, one with a headset would
probably help. It would allow you to write or keyboard while talking on the
phone without straining your neck or shoulder.
Many newer, amplified telephones have headset jacks on the side. Some phones
also have an equalizer or other tone control, which lets the user adjust the
sound for clarity.

Thanks for the suggestion. Mine does have a headset jack. I hadn't
thought to look. I have a headset but had stopped using it because it
cut the volume down so much I couldn't hear with it. I will try it
again with this new phone. It does have lots of controls for
amplification and tone control.

My phone has a speaker button. I can lay the phone on my lap or belly and
talk hands-free.

Some phones with speaker buttons also have headphone jacks. If a headset is
plugged in, pushing the button will send the signal to the headset instead of
the speaker/microphone. I have two 2-line Panasonic phones, one corded and one
cordless; both have speakerphone function and headset jacks, and I am satisfied
with both.
Here are some sites for locating and purchasing telephones, etc.
I still prefer to purchase equipment in person since pictures don't really give
you a decent feel for what you are buying, and, if there is a problem, it is
easier to return it.
Office supply stores are often good sources, though the "sales" people may not
know what they are selling.
