Probably my last post until the 21st of 22nd (unless I get my hands on
a computer in NorCal).
Have to spend the afternoon packing and locating paperwork to take
along.  Early to bed so
we can get an early start Thursday about 3:00 a.m. - want to beat the
morning rush traffic
through Orange and L.A. Counties.  Hope to reach Ventura for a
breakfast stop.

Keep your aches and pains to a minimum - I don't want to return to a
major disaster.  <g>

... Different drummer?  Heck, I've got my own *band*.

Yep, I remembered to bring the phone number along.  <g>

We left home at 4:10 and arrived in San Jose at 2:50.  We
made 4 or 5 "pit stops" along the way.  Dang CalTrans had
stretches of 101 down to one lane in nearly every county we
drove through.

Maybe you can help....do you know if Moffett Field is still
open, or has BRAC closed it?  I need to find a base - any
service - in the area.

... Firemen are proud of their hoses.

I just discovered that NAS Moffett closed 1 June 1994.

It now now home of NASA's AMES RESEARCH CENTER,
California Air National Guard, and Onizuka Air Foce Base
(which itself was on the 2005 BRAC list for closing).

... Firemant still use split lays.

Visited Moffett Field noon today.  Shopped the base exchange,
then had lunch in Mountain View.

Home again (our host's home, actually) for a shower and change
of clothes before leaving to the Santa Clara County Fairgoungs
for the opening of the square dance festival.

... Behind every fireman is a woman holding his hose.

holy cow!  i used to ride my bicycle to the scc fairgrounds and i worked at
the tully road stables (in high school), which is just east of it, down the
same street.  take that same road east, over 101, turn right on king rd. and
where i used to live was just a couple of blocks south on tierra buena.LOL

hey chief, if you have time and want to go wine tasting at a very fine wine
producing winery, take king road and go passed tierra buena to aborne road;
turn left on aborne and go up the hill on aborn to the mirassou winery,
which will be on the right hand side of the road.  enjoy.

We were there last December while visit Mary's family and friends
at Christmas.  <g>

opps -- just now saw this.
We had lunch yesterday. John put off paddling until after they arrived.
They looked hail and hearty if not a bit tired from all that dancing.
