Hi

I am a 33 year old RA sufferer that has tried infliximab, humira &
retuximab with no effect.  I am now looking at trying abatacept.  Has
anyone tried it yet?

Hi Gaetan
It is really good to hear.  There is hope for me.
How bad was your RA?  What were the first effects of Abatacept that you
noticed? Please tell me more.

At that time my RA was severe and out of control. I had bilateral deviation
on my elbow, hand and foot. My left shoulder was destroyed etc..Abatacept
can't help de deviation and the destruction, but after about 4 months I was
totally pain free! The first effects of Abatacept were lessening of pain.
Note that the Abatacept was in addition of 15 mg MTX injectable weekly  and
a NSAID Feldene.
I hope Abatacept (Orencia) is your lucky one!

I'm about 10 years older than thee...  I've been on it since June of
this year (2006).  Not positive if it's the abatacept (Orencia) that
seems to be working now or if it is that in conjunction with the
Imuran, or if it's just the Imuran (seems that I improved after the
Imuran started).

All my insurances (there has to be a better word for that) cover it,
and so far I haven't seen a bill for my portion.

My RA is severe and has been out of control since about January 2003.
Here's hoping that I'm finally getting back some control.  I hope it
works well for you (the doc says that it can take up to 6 months for
the abatacept to begin working), as it seems to have for Wil.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - if it's the abatacept I'm noticing, the first
thing was lessening of morning stiffness (morning?  try all day), it's
still there and it still hurts, but not nearly as bad.
