Blood pressure has been through the roof and now have to treat it. Starting
with something called HYZAAR. Have to look that one up on medscape as the
doc said very little about it other than to see him in two weeks.
So this makes number 7 morning med!

Been there,,, been through that,,, took the pills.  It is serious stuff.
High blood pressure causes many things to happen with our bodies and it
forces us to give up things like golf that we really enjoy doing from a fear
of the heat getting too high or exerting ourselves too much.   I do not know
the drug but I take Lisinopril which is a sub for Zestril and Vytorin for
highblood pressure and lowing the bad fat in my blood.   I have found that
taking some of my pills in the am and some of them at noon with the rest in
the evening give me less of a chance of it bother my stomach or a reaction
to the combo.
The truth of it is that if I would loose 50 lbs about half of the
medicine would not be needed.   So it goes.

Yeah, many of us are in that place.  Unfortunately it's difficult
losing weight if you take Prednisone and have so much pain you can't
move very well.

There ya go Gary, and make sure you take precaution because any drug that
contains a diuretic (makes you go pee) causes some dizziness as well as low
potassium.  I suggest a food called bananna and I am not being funny,
although I could think of something :).
But the diuretic in your drug causes LOW potassium and bananna is a good
source of potassium.   Plus other fine foods,....but that is the best.  Easy
to take on a golf course hehe.

Sign of low potassium is irregular heart rate and if you start experiencing
a skipped beat or fast then slow beat, call your doc.   NOW.  it can cause
very nasty problems.

I myself am on benicar which has the same diuretic in it as hyzaar and you
need to watch that.  I do NOT take potassium and DO not take potassium out
of the drug store with out a PRESCRIPTION a mistake a lot of people make..
Question your doctor about blood tests to monitor your potassium level.  HE
will know you are smart then and just don't tell him WHO is the smart one
LOL...

take care and get that BP  under control, you don't  need a stroke you are
too young or heart attack and I am NOT trying to scare you, it is a matter
of being health smart...
good luck

Cramps - charley horse - is a sure sign of low potassium
(and magnesium).  Your suggestion of bananas is good.

aye, ain't it a pain to get more meds?  I know an older fellow who says he
told his doctor that if he ever reaches the point of having to take 5 pills a
DAY, he's stopping everything and letting what happens happen.  I had to keep
my mouth shut (clergy spouse diplomacy in action).  I haven't swallowed fewer
than 5 pills on any given day in ovr 20 years.

Sorry about the BP, but glad it's being treated.  It can do such nasty things
to your life when allowed to rage.

heehee - it's a different perception, alright!  Granted, some of my pills are
supplements, but I refuse to even count how many I take each day.    Heck,
I'd be happy if I could just take them at fewer times during the day!
(walking away, muttering about having to space out my calcium pills......)

I know I don't take as many as some of you, but I take 26 a day--every day!
