Juggling Rosie

Good afternoon, Gimps,

Seems like I've been juggled. Humana didn't want to cover me for Enbrel
so I've been sent to DH's Rx coverage. I don't care either way as long as I
get it. That's what the delay has been and now it's still wait summore while
Caremark approves it ( someone somewhere had better!) and sets me up to get
Enbrel by mail order.

Found out by mail that I now do officially have an RF even tho' it's
connective tissue disease I've got. I'm told it's on the low side at 25. I
have more damage on my right side than my left...which explains all the
excess nerve pain on that side. Sometimes it feels like a heart attack until
I think "It's on the RIGHT, silly" and I get relieved. LOL

I'm tellin' ya that if I wasn't already crazy this would drive me closer
to insanity. Maybe we can have a pool on exactly when it'll finally show
up...calendar date and hour. :-)

Thanks Gimps. Got this info by phone starting yesterday AM...took a day
and a half. Wouldn't wanna let the Gimp Posse down; I'm keeping my own posse
membership current. <g>

Nobody wants to cover Enbrel (or Humira or Remicade or anything else
that's self inject and new).  I remember when I found out that my DH's
military retirement entitled me to those Rx benefits.  I was ecstatic.
Prior it had seemed like I'd have to come up with 2200 per month
(that's half) under his work insurance (they don't "cover" those
expensive drugs).

Seems the insurance people seem to think if you can do it at home, then
it can't be all that serious, so why would spend so much money for it?

I will keep up the vibes (and purrs and offerings and songs) that this
comes through for you.  What about that Medicare Rx insurance?  I
haven't looked at it, since Express Scripts wrote and said not to
bother (they have better copays).  Since they are a Gov't insurance, I
am not eligible for Medicare Rx unless I drop them (and I'm not
stupid).

You and Mary.   <g>

She was with Kaiser, going to doctors they told her to visit,
squealing about Rx this and Rx that.  Paying $350+ a month
insurance premium PLUS co-pays at appointments.

Now she's with Tricare under my Naval Reserve retirement
and saving oodles each month.  Genetic Rx are $3 while
brand names are $9.  No co-pay at appointments, though
once in awhile she gets stuck with a partial lab bill.

Heya Annie,

The Humana is my Medicare part D and I also have State of FL help to
help pay. So my other meds.only cost $5 brand and $2 generic. My RD really
really wants me on Rituxan but my family would be out $1100 each month for
that. He's hoping that if I continue to fail the anti-TNF's then that will
make the Rituxan infusions the only thing I have left.

I should get approval very quickly...he documents that it's to save
my feet and it is.
Let me add that I got called by an Enbrel representative this
afternoon to faciliate and ease the process thru. She apologized for the
wait I've endured this far. How kewl is THAT??!!?? When we Gimps get behind
it it sure does happen! Thanx ya'll!

Ach! It was a pure unadulterated whine. I am tempted to go back on
pred for a few days because an injection might make them worse for a
bit and I can not risk it.
Thx Numero deux.

Rosie!  What is the State of FL doing to help pay our Rxs????  Someone
else mentioned this and I forgot because of my brain fog :-(

I have SSD, Medicare, and Plan D by Cigna now.

Every state has Medicade (MediCal in California).
Every state has SSI (suppliment security income).

California can pay part or all of the monthly Part B premium and HMO
premium, and used to pay prescription co-pay in many instances.
But I believe the Rx benefit has been assigned to a pre-paid Part D
insurance company.

There should be a disability avocate's office somewhere in your
county who can make sure you don't fall through the cracks and
lose out on your benefits.

> I have SSD, Medicare, and Plan D by Cigna now.

Do you mean SSDI - Social Security Disability Insurance?  A part
of the Old Age, Survivor, Disability Insurance -- OASDI -- program?

Yes, I am finally getting SSD benefits.  Not SSDI. I picked a good drug
plan (Cigna Plus something) for the government Drug Plan D too.  Thanks
for the info.

BTW - I am fat and would skinny dip anytime!  Last one into the pool is
a rotten egg!!!!

More Warm Thoughts,

Rosemarie Shiver - 27 Sep 2006 15:32 GMT
Heya, Meg,

I got a letter from Social Security saying to go to a website online
and apply. So I did and I got an e-mail saying I was eligible. But the
official letter in the mail really made me believe it. I used th eletter at
the beginning of the year while waiting to get picked up by Part D in order
to getmy meds.discounted...and they've been at the price quoted
since....even after one of the two kids still living here turned18. I think
I'll keep my remaining minor close by.<g>

You may be one who fell thru the cracks, as Chief sez,so call
yourlocal SS office and ask them how to apply for the state help online.

I will give Enbrel that.  They are so cool with trying to be helpful.
I had been on their mailing/calling list (which was fine), but when I
went off, I only had to tell them once and they haven't called since
(still get stuff in the mail, but that doesn't interrupt a meal  or
anything.

I really do hope this works for you the way it did for me (without the
downside, mind you).  I couldn't believe how much better I felt after
the first shot.  If I hadn't been with such a dip the fist time
through....  Well, we discuss RDs in this thread.

Can't cross the fingers today, but I can cross my legs, so...

I was really surprised, as in,"Tell me WHO you are again?" I've taken a
lotta legal drugs over the years and this is the first drug rep. I've ever
spoken to.

The RD Rx'd the 50mg.so he ain't playing. I'm glad it works for you so
well...as it does for others here, too....so perhaps it'll be my saving drug
as well. Thanx, Annie. :-)

We get our meds from Caremark as well.  On an average, it takes about 3
weeks after we send the order in until we get the meds by mail.  Hope yours
comes sooner.  Nanny
