sigh . . . and whine

d'huit - 22 Sep 2006 23:42 GMT i've been toughing it out, waiting for my pain killer to come in from medco. sent off for it on aug. 28th. sigh . . . it still hasn't arrived. i've been completely out of it now for over a week, because of waiting for it to arrive. so, i just kept toughing it out, figuring it would be here "tomorrow".
after my "anti-synch day" yesterday and having to resort to my cane and then crutches, i gave up today. i decided i couldn't cope effectively any longer. (i totally loathe caving in and giving up on myself.) so, i called medco today. medco said they sent it on sept. 5th. but i didn't receive it and they don't use tracking numbers (which i think is insane, when it comes to shipping narcotics). medco said they will call my rd and have her fax a new prescription, because it is a narcotic and not one that can be automatically refilled--against state law. then, medco will charge me, again, for the new 'script and send it overnight express. medco told me to call my dr. for a temporary 'script for it.
so, i called my rd, immediately, and her office is closed on fridays. sigh. . . called the doc she refers her patients to, in the robot message, when her office is closed. he can't do anything because it is a narcotic. and now i also know that medco can't get through to her to get a faxed new 'script, until monday, because her office is closed. so, i'm screwed.
i've tried everything i could think of. can't even seem to distract myself anymore. toughing it out with aleve didn't helped, ibruprofen didn't help, meditation/going inward didn't help, inversion table didn't help, 2 different otc arthritis formula analgesics didn't help, brandy didn't help, wine didn't help, massage didn't help, heating pads don't help, hot soaks don't help, ice packs don't help, crying doesn't help. sigh . . .
kate sigh . . . wondering if wrapping myself in aluminum foil and standing on the roof in a lightning storm might help.<that's just the very dark/sardonic side of my sense of humor speaking and it's not to be taken seriously> please, don't hug me. i hurt too much.
ladylove77 - 23 Sep 2006 00:18 GMT Poor baby! Will pray hard for you over the weekend since you are hurting so much with no relief coming until at least Monday or Tuesday. Next time DON'T WAIT SO LONG TO CALL! Be the squeak that gets the oil. Love, Gwen

Try calling your pharmacy! After this much time, I won't be hearing from them!

Katie, I am so sorry you are having to go thru this and toughing it out for the weekend and however long it takes for you to get the meds. I feel for you. I really do.
I hope you can hang in there. Love and kisses to you.

Wonderful son!

Ginnie - 23 Sep 2006 08:06 GMT AS IT SHOULD BE!!! All people in pain are supposed to have a white knight and a good son, to get ourselves the treatment we need, whatever it may be.
And when you do get to feeling better, start dancing on medco's head for the screwup. I'm personally sending some less than laudatory 'messages' to the dolts at medco right this very minute.
I know, no hugs, they hurt, so Clooney is donating the sound of happy cat purrs to you!

it sure is and does, joan. thank you. alex left here almost an hour ago. he came in the door, didn't even say hi, at first, and headed straight for the water glasses, then handed me a pill and a glass of water. as if he thought i wouldn't have taken it on my own? LOL sweet kid. for a daddy's boy, he sure is good to his mother.<smile>
i was surprised by this prescription. i didn't expect 35 meperidine pills (not sure if i spelled that right). i was figuring my pain doc would probably prescribe just a couple of days worth of darvon or something else that doesn't do very much in the way of taking the edge off. i mean, we (my doc and i) didn't even talk on the phone to discuss what i needed and he knows (it's on his chart) that generally my rd prescribes ultracet (which, truthfully,is no longer as effective as it once was, even with aleve). i know this will work, bless him. i've taken this before, but a long time ago. oh, blessed relief, i can feel it beginning to work now. think i'll go lie down now and humbly allow it to work.

You must have had the right folks praying for you early on! LOL
BTW - Medco keeps track of your scripts on their website so you can find out if/when they've shipped it and can raise a fuss earlier than you did this time. I know it's hard to think of that when you're hurting, but please try next time, OK?
I get my prns locally still so I haven't had to deal with the tracking issue, but it does seem they'd track narcotics. They certainly track Enbrel, but that one costs them real money.

I get my prn meds locally still - all generic and I never use the full allowed amount so it is still affordable that way - but it sure seems Medco would track narcotics. Tehy certainly track Enbrel, but of course that one costs them real money.

Not cool of them at all. Like it was said in a earlier post the sqeeky wheel gets the oil. If they are open tomorrow I would call and make them look into it further and since they do use tracking numbers for the shipment then they should be able to reach fed ex or UPS and track where it is. Do you ask that they ship your meds with a signature on delivery? I would sqeek real loud if I were you dear. Gentle virtual hugs and I really am sorry that you are having to deal with this. RhondaM
