Enbrel travels

Well, it all worked out ok flying down to my mom's.  It was interesting
to note the changes since last December.  This time they had me take
the Enbrel out of the little cooler thing so they could feed the cooler
through the X-Ray.  They'd just hand inspected it all before.  THEN
they hand inspected the cooler after the X-Ray machine.  Two folks
conferred on whther the gel ice packs were allowed for keeping medicine
cool (with me protectively chiming in that it had to be at 36-46 F).
They agreed it was all permitted and set me free to go.

I'm glad there was no snow on the ground for this trip so I was just
fine traveling in Birks.  They are so much easier to get in and out of
for security!

I wonder what they do with people who can't remove or replace
shoes????

.... Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.

I can't remove or replace my shoes unless I'm sitting on a stool that
is just the right height. If I wore birks I would only be able to kick
out of them and step back in. I would not be able to bend down and
pick them up. My solution - don't fly.

well, they have chairs there but I don't know if TSA folks will help
you if you can't bend over to your feet or your shoes.  Maybe I'll ask
them when I fly back - they tend to be much more lowkey and friendly at
the Gainesville airport as they deal with a lower volume of passengers.
If they don't provide some sort of assistance, I would think it's an
ADA violation.

Beds, chairs, stools don't work with me.  I simply can't
flex the hips and knees enough to reach my feet.  I use
appliances received from O.T. a decade ago.

Thanks for asking on your return trip.

I'm still going to ask, but I did find this on the TSA website:
"People with disabilities, those with prosthetic devices, and those
with medical conditions DO NOT have to remove their shoes during this
heightened security level. Those with disabilities who keep their shoes
on will be subjected to additional screening that includes a visual,
physical and explosive trace detection sampling of their footwear."

That's why I wear Birkies when I fly. Kick off, slip on :) And they
still fit at my destination even if my feet swell a bit on the plane :)

Thank you for the research.  Mary wanted us to fly to Hawaii for
my birthday, but she gave me other options.  I selected the square
dance festival in San Jose followed by either Redding or Yosemite.
I think I'll select Redding.   It's further north and I may not
have another opportunity to see that area.  Yosemite is closer to
home - though I've never been there during the 61 years I've lived
in California.

... I had to delete Windows; my cat ate the mouse.
