Hi All,
I am totally a non-creative person, but would love to someday learn how
to knit and perhaps do a few other crafty type projects.
In any case, a friend of mine just gave me this thing called
knifty-knitter looms and some yarn, and I have had an absolute ball with
it thus far----oh my aching hands!!! lol
Anyways, I have made a couple of hats and a scarf thus far with it.
Am wondering if any of you do knitting and such and if any of you know
of any good online sources to purchase yarn?
Yes, I can get yarn at local stores as well, but am just wondering about
any online sources that are reasonable and have perhaps some unusual or
really beautiful yarns and maybe some patterns as well.
Thanks to any one who has any ideas!!!
Hugs,
Donna G.

Mary and I have to be careful with our VISA limit
when we receive Annies' catalogs. <g>

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, they are much appreciated.
Yes, I can do a search on yarns, but it is much nicer and easier to know
which sites others use and which sites are the more reputable sites.
Happy crafting to you all!

How about in my storage shed. Just what kind of yarn are you looking
for. You tell me what you need and I will look and see if I have
something and just mail it to you. One more thing out of my stash -- it
is a good thing. lol

http://www.fncyarn.com/ is the web site for Fiber, Nooks, and Crannies
a yarn and fiber shop in Corvallis, OR. I've never ordered online but
I've been to the shop which is in an older house with all these tiny
rooms chock a block with bins of yarn and fiber. Barely walking around
room. The owner told me that her husband finally told her to either
get rid of her yarn or open a shop. She opened a shop.
Sounds like great fun!

I'm not a knitter, etc. but thought I'd throw in that thrift stores can be a
good source for yarn. Our St. Vincent de Paul store often has some - not the
most interesting stuff, but some really good buys on decent stuff. I also
picked up a bunch for my mom that was donated to the church sale, but that's
less predictable.
BTW, if you really get into doing stuff with this, one possibility is to do
projects to donate. My mom (and some other folks) knit prayer shawls for
shut-ins and nursing home residents. One of my mom's friends knits baby
blankets for the neonatal ICU in town and for the nursery when the ICU has
enough. It's something really nice to send home with families who have fewer
resources and would probably mean even more in MI than it does in FL! Oh,
and I know of some churches who give baby blankets or quilts to newborns or
newly baptized babies in church families.
