I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

Somewhat related: these are the sort of stats that people use to try and
ban pornography by improperly linking it to crime as a cause and
effect...yet people actually buy into it then! Live and let live: if you
don't want to star in it, don't bloody well video tape yourself in the
act and leave the tape in the camera when you have it sent for warranty
repair. If you don't want to watch it, don't buy it. It's a slippery
slope when we start trying to ban things and using stats such as those
used humourously above: personally, I don't like bread, and highly
processed carbohydrates used in bread are massively contributing to the
obesity epidemic and the blow out in health care costs for all tax
payers...so I say we ban it. On the other hand, I can try not pushing to
legislate the films you can watch, books you can read, or foods you can
buy, and maybe everyone can all get along a bit better.
Regards,
Ari
ummm . . . ari, food, in general, contributes to obesity. maybe, everybody
should just stop eating food. silverware contributes to obesity. pots and
pans contribute to obesity. stoneware, china, melmac, glassware all
contribute to obeisity. oh hell, kitchens and dining rooms contribute to
obeisity. television contributes to obesity. chairs contribute to obesity.
the movie industry contributes to obesity. cars contribute to obesity and
therefore, highways contribute to obeisity. . . . ad nauseum.
gee, you know what, ari? i think the real underlying reason for the blow
out in health care costs, for all tax payers, is going to the doctor. so, i
say we ban going to the doctor! yeah. now, i can get behind that!

I've been thinking further on this, and I've come to the conclusion that
you either have to ban both bread and porn or allow both. To allow just
bread without allowing porn would exacerbate the problems of obese
people by removing a valuable form of exercise ;-)
