Sister having surgery today

Well finally after 11 months my sister is having surgery to remove her
knee prosthesis. She will have the "puck" put in with antibiotic. I am
not sure how long that has to be left in,  and then the puck will be
removed and a new prosthesis put in. She is also having an "umbrella"
put in because she developed a clot as a result of all of this.

Please remember her in your prayers.I hope that this will put an end
to the infection that she has had for the entire 11months.

My doc made mention of "12 weeks" with a spacer (puck?) put
in temporarily,
if I get an infection, and have to have the TKR removed.

Best wishes to your sister.

your sister's certainly been through a lot these past years, not just the
past 11 months.  one of those kinds of times in life where you look up and
say, "i don't need anymore character building!" (attributable to some
forgotten character in a book or movie i've experienced).

she has my prayers and hopes that all goes perfectly well for her.  as do
you, my friend.

Rose, praying that today's surgery goes very smoothly and the recovery from
it will be uneventful, but fast.  I can only imagine how frustrated she is
after all this time.  She does have a different surgeon, doesn't she?   Pray
the next prothesis will be the charm !

They did not do the knee. They only did the heart catheterization or
whatever it was- to put the balloon in. When the doctor's office
called they said she would be having both procedures done. Now it
sounds like that was never the plan. She said it was bery painful.

Thanks for your prayers. Now we need prayers that the next surg will
come and go quickly.

maybe they are waiting for the one year anniversary.

So no info on when they'll be working on the knee?  it really seems that they
should be doing something about that whole mess.  Well, may she feel better
with the angioplasty done and be in better shape for the knee surgery right
around the corner.

Rose, I can't understand it being painful if they gave her the meds I had
each time I've had a balloon or stent.  I was out of it and don't remember a
thing.  They evidently didn't do the same for her, and that's too bad.
