Hi,

Looking for personal comments on Relafen.   Seems to have very serious side
effects.

Thanks for any information.

I took it for a while, but it really bothered my stomach, I haven't found
anything that works for me except bextra and they took it off the market,
Good luck

I'm taking it now and don't like it.  I'm on 740mg 2x a day.  I can't seem
to remember to take the second dose of it and I'm really not liking what it
does to my stomach.  If I eat with it I'm ok but about 1/2 hour later I
still get an upset stomach.  I'm also taking mtx, folic acid and prednisone
with this as well.  But when I take it by itself it just seems to make me
sick.  I hope that helps you some.

I took it for about 2 1/2 months.  The first 6 weeks were great - seemed to
work well for me without side effects.  Then I began having stomach troubles.
The stomach stuff came on suddenly and not until 6 weeks after starting the
relafen so I didn't associate them at first - thought I had some bug.  Over
time, I realized it might be the relafen - put a call into my RD's office and
stopped it in the meantime.  By the time they called me back I'd missed 2
doses and was already feeling somewhat better.  We took me off it and went on
to other NSAIDs.  YMMV.  If it hadn't gotten to my tummy, I would have been
happy with it.

when my shoulder got so bad i could barely lift my arm, in the middle of
july, after having an mri on it in june, my orthopod put me on a 20 day
course of 1000mg doses of relafen, along with cortisone injections (mri
showed a tear and fraying of the largest shoulder tendon and a bunch of
arthritis debris and other stuff --so, surgery will be in my, 1 to 2 years
out, future or, paraphrasing what he said, before that tendon lets go.)  i
noticed no ill effects from the drug, but the benefits of both cortisone and
relafen, combined, were wonderful.  i had been on it before, years ago, for
bursitis.  i now have a standing prescription for it, for when my shoulder
flares up again, and for, as my ortho said, when i know i'm going to be
overusing my shoulder.  (i'm still wondering about that last part.  i never
know when i'm going to be doing anything, unless i have an appointment.LOL)
