Well, just returned from the annual Ohio gimp picnic, and as usual, it
was an absolute ball.  The food was fantastic, the laughter, non stop,
and the fun never ending!!!   Now it's going to take me the next week or
two to recover, but that is ok.  It is well worth the price!!!  :  )

As usual, KJ and Kimmy were the hotesses with the most!!!

Wondering though what happened to those of you who were going to be
there???

Nann and Mike, we missed you and I was so surprised that you didn't
show!  Everything ok with you both?

DeeTee and Bob, so sorry you all didn't  make it either.   We thought
for sure you would at least show up for a short period of time.

Aim & Tish, where were you guys???   I was soooooo looking forward to
finally getting the chance to meet you!!!

Phew, gotta go rest up a bit and recoup from my wild weekend in Akron!

Hi to all the gang here at ASA.    Miss you all and think of you often.
Keep you all in my prayers all the time.    Am still struggling with
trying to find a new med that will work for me without all the
infections.    RD is thinking rituxin, but trying to come up with the
financing is a bit tough.   Need to do something soon, as every joint in
my body is screaming and not happy.   Am heading for a bit of hand
surgery on sept 21st, and am hopeful it will ease things a bit pain wise
so that I might be able to get back to posting more regularly.

Hugs and pain free wishes to you all!!!

First glance at that, I thought you wrote "bail."

ROFL!!!

Actually, Chief, you're not that far off.

There was some police involved  & we thought there might have been some
bail involved.  You know how it goes with those wild gimps!!!

(a major red face here) We started for the gimpfest. We did. We had a big
box of fresh cookies in the back of the car. Then as we pulled out of our
housing development, my DH reminded me that he had not eaten all day. (Now
the man is 63 years old for cryin' out loud! He's old enough to fix himself
something to eat at any time. I had gone to my chiropractor AND the grocery
store!) Anyway, we stopped for a quick bite to eat. Then started again for
Akron. We drove by some one story condos and couldn't resist pulling in to
look at them. The agent took us to the model and we talked and talked and
talked and then she told us about a house they had for sale so we drove over
to look at that. By that time I had to use the bathroom and since we were
still really close to home I drove there and went inside. Then the DH says,
"Do you realize it's nearly 4:30? What time does the picnic start?" I, of
course, told him 3:00 and we realized that if we started up right then, we'd
get to KJ's about 7:30, and we would have stayed for at least 2-3 hours,
then a 3 hour drive back (I do the bulletins for Sunday and church starts at
9 AM). We knew we'd not make it in to church if we left. Sooooooooo, I got
on the phone to KJ and tried to explain.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.......

Hi Donna,,,  I am sorry to read that you are feeling bad and hurting.   The
medicine is a balancing act with what works and harms the most.   Good luck
with it and I enjoy your emails of stufffff.   You know you are prayed for
and thought about.

Donna,

So glad to hear from you. Glad you had such a great time at the gimp picnic.
I hope the hand surgery does the trick. Can you drop us a note closer to the
date to remind us.

You have another box of books coming your way by the way. Jim sent it off
yesterday. It is bigger than the last one. Happy reading.

You take care and I sure hope this surgery does the trick for you so you can
be back with us more. We sure do miss you.

I hope the surgery solves the hand problem for awhile. I know it would
be nice if you could get at least one thing to ease up a bit. Sending
you all the healing vibes i can vibrate...

I'm glad to hear it was such fun, though I wish I could have made it.
Actually, it was just I who was going as Mike now works weekends  :)
But...... the bishop was visiting one of our churches.  For a while I thought
I'd make it to Akron regardless, but some recent developments made it
advisable for me to be here.  Ultimately, everything surrounding that turned
out as well as possible, but still it's better that I stayed.  sigh.......  I
really could have used a gimp event though!

I'm sorry to hear that you are still suffering so much from the RA and that
funding for the rituxan is not coming through.  Remind us again of your hand
surgery as it draws closer so we can fire up the prayer machine for a really
good outcome.

Well it is tough trip from Oregon!! LOL  I hope you are able to find
financing for Rituxan, would this be Medicare or your insurance.  Stay
on them and often they will fold.  Hope you get a break from the RA
soon. -- MZ

Hi Mary Z.

Welcome back!!!

Yes, medicare is my primary insurance and they have agreed to pay their
80% and actually my secondary isurance will pay 85% of their 20%
responsibility leaving me with a balance of roughly $500 to $600 dollars
to pay out of pocket.  The healthwell foundation has agreed to pay that
amount, but my local hospital is unwilling to bill the healthwell
foundation directly, so I will have to pay out of pocket first and then
once it is payed, submit it to the healthwell foundation for
reimbursement.   Unfortunately, because I am on such a limited income
and have had a very rough year with lots of extra prescriptions and such
to pay for, I am already about $200 to $300 dollars in the whole, so it
will likely take me a good year or two to pay off that out of pocket
expense before I can submit it for reimbursement.    Kind of a stressful
situation to be in, but can't take much more of going without the RA
meds.   So what's a person to do?!!!

One of these days we'll have to get a bunch of you from the west coast
to fly into Ohio for the annual gimp picnic!  They are soooooooooo much
fun, and of course, Kimmy & KJ really know how to throw a party!!!
LOL!!!

Hugs,

Donna G
