Dear Folks,

My son returned from Idaho working for the summer last Friday.  After
being around so many animals, he has a rather unusual problem.  Last
night he was walking in our neighborhood and a stray dog bite him!
Broke the skin in three places.

He got home.  And I grabbed the phisahex and cleaned it well and put
antibiotic cream on it but the doctor still thinks that it's about to
get infected.  He saw the doctor today.

Yes,  animal control was out today and they will search for the animal
until Sept 1.

My son goes back to college on Saturday!

So please pray that he's OK!  And that they find the dog!

Thanks in advance,

Vickie B.

No one suggests rabies shotsm for your son? Painful and inconvenient but
if they don't find the dog it might be considered a must do more than
prayers.

I agree with Bud - prayers AND shots if necessary to protect your son's
life.  Nanny

Vicki, talk about being ironic!  Will be in much prayer for no infection and
that the dog is found quickly.

Prayers on the way. My old vet who loved animals more than people, used
to say with sadness that once a dog tasted blood, they needed to be put
down as they would continue to bite. And you guessed it, he blamed the
bad owners for their behavior.
Have you taken your son to the doctor yet?

Vicki, not to alarm you, but my granddaughter got bit last summer by a stray
cat.  It broke the skin several places on her arm.  I took her to the
Emergency Room, where they gave her tetanus and antibiotic shots, then said
if we saw the cat again, call the Humane Society, so it could be picked up
and checked for Rabies.  The neighbor was able to get the same cat in her
house, and the Humane Society picked it up, then checked it for Rabies.
Thank God, the cat was "clean".  However, the doctor on call at the
Emergency Room told me that they are required to contact the Health
Department whenever someone comes in with animal bites.  If it were me, I'd
be a little skeptical about sending your son to college without checking it
further, especially as you said the skin was broken open.  Nanny

Yes, my son has seen his doctor!  The doctor put him on antibiotics!

Yes, we have called animal control.  They are looking for the dog.
They said that in this county there has not been a case of rabies by
dog in 14 years.  So they not too alarmed.  The decision on whether or
not he will need shots will come in September.

His doctor said that he is fine to go back to college.

Thanks!

It's good that he's on antibiotics now rather than waiting for anymore signs
of infection.  Getting on top of it early makes such a difference.

May they find the dog and find the dog to be clean!

UPDATE;

They found the dog today!  The animal catcher said the family claimed
to have had the dog 4 monthes and it did have its shots!  They still
claim it is a stray!  Oh well!  This should be good news.

The dog is in quarantine!

Thanks for the prayers!  I knew that there were working!
