Phew what a trip!   So many adventures and stunning scenery, also rain
and sunshine.   I have never seen a river miles wide with so many
braids, and the 8 foot Alaskan brown bears.... biggest bears I have
ever seen! Their paw prints were much bigger than my feet. They were
pretty afraid of us and just ran into the woods.  They stood up on
their hind legs to catch our scent because they don't see well.  miles
and miles of glaciers, distant thunder of the glaciers calving,
icebergs the size of houses.  Wow even heard the wolves howl one night
and we had a great Northern lights display. I am tired, but those
memories will last a life time..... 160 miles on the Tatshenshini and
Alsek rivers. -- MZ

Thank you so much Mary - you made my day.  The pictures are incredible.  We
lived in Smithers and travelled those roads and camped around there and
lived in Chetwynd near Dawson Creek.  Not quite as far up as you were but
some of the same scenery.  I forgot how incredible it could be.  Thanks -
how wonderful remicade has been for you!

I am thankful every day that Remicade has worked so well.  My knee did
flare up and another time my ribs flared, but that lasted only a day
and prednisone settled it right down. It is gorgeous country. -- MZ

Small world, Kelly. A friend of mine lives in Smithers, raises sheep and her two
sisters now visit her every year at lambing time. They have phenomenal stories
and pictures!

Really small world, Joan. My husband's father lives in Smithers currently.
They have a place on the river, and he is an avid fly-fisherman. We love to
visit, but it's so expensive to fly and that's really the only way to get
there without taking a month off to drive.

WElll maybe not a month but it feels like it with RA.  It was a beautiful
place to live until the winters - I could have done without them.  It is 2
day drive from Vancouver Kelly but with RA that sometimes feels forever.
For a fly fisherman or sheep farmer Smithers would feel like - well heaven.

I personally am glad not to be up there now.  Medical stuff is a disaster in
a small town that far away - wait lists and cancellations.  It is a small
world though - wonderful how the internet shows that.

Okay, so I exaggerate for effect!lol From where we are it is a long drive,
over mountains, etc. We visited up there once and loved the experience, but
I couldn't live there. Winter is 6 months long, which is about 3 months over
my limit.

They were on the island for a couple of years, living in Merville (which is
where we visited them last), but FIL couldn't stand being away from the
Bulkley and the seclusion. We may not see them again for a while. Now the
exchange rate is so poor that it would be expensive for us to even visit
Victoria, which breaks my heart, cause I love it there.:(

Those photos are beautiful, Mary!  I'm so glad you had a good time.
Now it's time to rest and relax, and relive some of the wonderful times
you had.

Wow!  You have me drooling on the computer now.  We really do have to get to
Alaska one year - we won't be as far off the trodden path as you were, but we
have to see some of this.

Been busy here and not checked in for a few days and here you are back.
John is in San Antonio but I sent him your post. Two weekends ago we
drove up to Cloverdale to buy a slightly used kayak. Now there are three
boats in our garage. lol
Welcome home lady.
