Jennifer Massey-Howe - 05 Aug 2006 15:51 GMT well, I don't go see my doc until the 10th and this just started.

Do both hands start shaking at the same time, or does one side go first? Does it coincide with tingling in another area of your body? Lots of questions, but probably best answered with the help of a neurologist.

I'm probably going to ask my doctor when I see her on the 10th what is going on.

If so, I would contact the doctor before the next scheduled appt. Some, like Welbutrin have a high seizure risk.
I hope this is something easily remedied. I think it sounds scary. I don't think I could wait for the 10th.

Atentolol is for my high blood pressure and albuterol is for my asthma but I've been on them for years. I've been on the celebrex since march and she put me on the prednisone on the 20th of July along with the vit D and calcium.

I don't get them all the time, just sometimes. Maybe when my body is worn down or something.
Also being on pred you should watch those blood sugar levels. They can really jump around when on pred.

Not to alarm you, but what you're describing sounds a little like Guillain Barre syndrome, aka Landry's ascending paralysis.

Jennifer Massey-Howe - 05 Aug 2006 20:43 GMT My last blood test showed that my sugar wasn't high enough for it, it was around 103 fasting.

It is something that needs to be checked into.
Squirrely - 07 Aug 2006 16:55 GMT I get shaking if I overdo something I shouldn't have been doing.
Also blood sugar drops can do that. It would be best to have your own meter to check what your blood sugar is when that shaking starts happening. Blood sugar levels can jump around so much.
I go into hypoglycemia attacks at times. The rest of the times my blood sugars look good or are even high. But then there are times they bottom out. So it would be worth checking to see if that is happening to you.
Exhaustion of the muscles, joints etc can make you shake too.

She still wants me to continue to take it until I see her on the 10th which isn't too much longer. (I had an unoffical visit, needed to get paper work filled out for DSS). Anyhow, she said that on the 10th she will more than likely take me off the prednisone and put me on Methotrexate and probably some other NSAID at this point since the Ins company is being a pain in the a.s. They have told me and told her that they will not cover dolobid, ralafin and a bunch of other NSAIDs not even celebrex is covered which is what I'm still on at this point. What they need to do is send her a drug list of what they will cover instead of telling her what they won't cover and they refuse.

Is this a policy through a workplace? If so, it might be worth taking it up with the key person in the company's Human Resources or call the insurance company yourself, demand to speak to someone in charge and insist on a copy of their formulary. And be prepared to pursue it up the chain with letter-writing at the insurance company. Of course, this is just if you are in the mood to fight them on the coverage of meds. I realize I just got so fired up hearing how much trouble they are giving you and your doc that I took off running....
I hope the shaking improves. Is she tapering your prednisone yet, or is she keeping at the same dose unitl you see her again? Make sure she takes you off the pred with a slow taper - she sounds like she'll have the sense to do so, but we do hear horror stories from time to time of folks whose docs took them off it cold turkey.

It's a shame when people who feel lousy are trapped by such insurance issues. I remember being there myself a couple of years ago.
