Hi gang!
My daughter has had severe joint pain and swelling since late winter.
Of course, with my history we assumed the worst and have spent the past
couple of months going through the work up. High sed rate, high CRP,
negative RA factor.
Then one night in the middle of the night I woke up and said "It's B19
parvo virus!" I remembered that she had babysat for my nephew on a
Saturday in January while he had a fever and rash. On monday he was
diagnosed with "Fifth's Disease". I knew from the olden days of writing
a bazillion articles on arthritis that fifth's disease in adults and
teens causes RA like symptoms.
Told her rheumy who drew some blood and I was right! Her B19 titre was
extremely high! Danielle says I could work for Dr House! LOL She's
taking NSAIDs and we were told the symptoms could go away at any time
now or last as long as two years.
I am sooooo thankful we have a diagnosis! And it's not RA!!!!

Thank goodness - have been hoping for you.
See all this experience is good for something - we could all become
consultants!

KJ, you rock! that is so cool that you diagnosed her and even better
that it's something that can go away. Fifth's just made the rounds
through my grandson's preschool. i guess it's pretty common in kids.
i'm sure danielle feels better just knowing what it is and that there
is an end to the tunnel.

KJ, we'll just hope those symptoms go away sooner rather than later.

lol So far so good. My daughter hit 30 and although is actually
diagnosed as having RA is not showing and even better not feeling any
pain but she knows it is waiting in her future. She hates it when mother
and I and her are all together as she can really see her future. ah well.

I knowwww how you feel. My oldest daughter went through a very stressful
time with her second husband and with her job. When you add no quality
sleep,,,, she started to ache in her joints and her fingers got so sore that
she could hardly type.... The tears just rolled down my face and I could
not stop. I needed to impress on her and her husband how important sleep
is which I did,,,, tears or no tears. I could see myself when I was in my
late 30s and early 40s..... She changed the way she did her day and I am
sorry to say,,,, got rid of number 2. Zipppp back to normal with no joint
pain. I liked her husband but if he was too dumb to put her in the number
1 place,,,,, so it goes. I still think it is in her future but I have not
told her that.

Oh KJ,
I am rejoicing with you that it is not RA and that it is parvo. I know that
is not nice either but at least she can get rid of it in less than two years
instead of having it for a lifetime.
Send my love and hugs to Danielle. I will be keeping her in my thoughts too.
