Oh a birthday party! I've found a recipe for an angel food cake that is
sliced in layers and filled with a fluffy filling of whipped cream and
pineapple. Should be nice and light in this hot weather.

A very happy birthday to you Johnie :)

Hugs,
Kimmy (can somebody help me light these candles?)

Oh a birthday - am I invited?  I could provide a jug of margaritas - I think
I have the recipe from KJ or maybe it was from Larry - our resident
bartender in spirit.  Have a great one Johnie with the little guy I bet.

KJ,
Think I am going on Orencia (Abatacept) as soon as I can get my rd to
approve it.  Can you tell me whether it is working for you and any problems?
Thanks - I think ritaximab is out due to the mtx that they want with it.
Just don't think I can handle it any longer - I am on 2.5 mg and having
problems for crying out loud.

Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly,
It works well enough. Seems to last about 3 weeks, fades out in that
last week. Not a miracle, but I'll take it.

My only side effect is a headache that starts one or two days after and
lasts a couple days. It's tolerable though and a small price to pay for
something that works!

Of the four people in my study, one dropped out early because it didn't
work and the rest of us stayed on it. No one dropped out due to side
effects.

As for the MTX, we had to be on it during the study so I don't know if
they are suggesting it be used with MTX outside of the study.

I had my last study infusion on Tuesday.  My insurance has approved my
next 6 infusions at 85%. But as my study nurse said "15% of a hell of a
lot of money is still a hell of a lot of money." I seriously doubt I
will be able to afford more than a couple doses. My study nurse was
going to talk to the drug company to see if they will pay the 15%.
We'll see.

Good luck with it if you decide to go for it.

Thanks Krissy,
The doctor decided the risks with infection with me were greater than
ritaxan and that the effect wasn't great enough where I am.  That combined
with the neurological damage from the enbrel has led them to believe we will
go with the ritaxun so of course we are going through the beurocracy (crazy
word - not even spell check is finding anything close!).  I am flaring like
crazy so sure hope we can get it approved with the money etc.  15% is still
a lot of money.  Glad to hear the side effect is only the headache - that is
pretty good for you isn't it.  To have no one drop out due to side effects
alone is pretty good out of 4 given the drug.

Thanks Krissy - good luck!

you folks are the very best. I always try to get thru my b'days without
thinking about it too much but opening this up tonight truly made my
day feel special. My little guy is outa town for a coupla days but he
did call and sing me happy birthday. I spent the weekend on the
property getting things ready for my first crew coming in next week. It
is so beautiful up there. the only noise at night are coyotes and the
sky is so bright with stars you can see rattlesnakes a good 10 feet in
front of you. >g<
I am pretty sure i couldn't muster up the courage to try and build this
house if i didn't have all of you reminding me of the kind of courage
and fortitude it takes just to "get thru your goddamn day". You all
have helped me get thru my days in ways you will never know and I will
always be grateful for your friendship. Oh and Hey, Im only in my 'late
20's'......>bg< (x2).

lots and lots of high desert love,
johnie
