something new to worry about.

have to schedule a CT to check into an enlarged salivary gland. i think
i've had it for a long time, but only recently has it started aching a
bit. i have very dry eyes, but my mouth doesn't feel particularly dry.
can this be anything unscary?

I can't remember if you were diagnosed with Sicca syndrome or not,
Diane. I found the following website interesting. Check the part about
salivary gland swelling:

thanks for that, rose. i don't know if i have SS. i definitely have the
dry eyes and RA. i'm not aware of my mouth being dry, tho.

i feel whiney about this. i just got back from my annual pancreatic cat
scan at hopkins with the good news that my pancreatic tumor-thingy
hasn't grown any since last year, and i felt FREE and now something
new. sounds like what everybody else here deals with, doesn't it?
misery loves company.

I am hopoing for you too, Diane. One of the crummy things about RA is
that it has so many hangers on. By 'hangers on'  I mean the associated
conditions that come as part of the package. It's bad enough having to
deal with the RA without all the rest of it.

When will you know something?

I will be thinking of you.

RA attacks my salivary glands quite often.  Sometimes they just swell
up for a few days then it goes away other times they end up infected
and I need antibitoics. Just another annoying RA thang I think!

maybe that's it. how did they know it wasn't a tumor or stones? and
while i have you here, HOW ARE YOU DOING ON ORENCIA??

I had a CT scan of them a loooong time ago, when they first started
swelling. Normal. So we blamed it on the RA. Made sense to me.

I am doing okay on Orencia. It's not lasting the full month anymore,
little less than three weeks now. I really notice it's not working that
last week before my treatment. I have my last free treatment next week,
then my year study is over and I have to start paying <pout>. I'll
probably stay on it as long as it works like it is now, if it loses
anymore effectiveness, I am not sure where we'll turn next.

thanks for the orencia update, KJ. i'm sorry to hear it's doing the
fade, like everything else. it gets scary when the options are limited.

The cat scan showed everything is normal. my doc says the swelling is
most likely from secondary sjogrens, since it tends to go up and down.
i am relieved. thanks for the good thoughts.

what a big relief Diane - you probably weren't in any hurry to get in line
for another problem.

This is good news to hear Diane. Glad it was not something worse. I know
this isn't pleasant but better probably than what you were thinking.
