Oy. Whatever it takes, survive the ride. You really need to be seeing a doc
who will follow up on all of this. Don't think about the money, if you can
possibly push that aside. Focus on getting well, first.
I hope the heat breaks soon for you. This has been too long. We've only had
about 3 really hot days this year and they just drained me. I don't even
want to think how horribly it must hit you!

It has been hard on me Nann, It has been hot like this for I think about a
week now. With me running this fever it is not helping. I think that is
making me throw up more too. I was never one to tolerate above 80 as it is.
Just got back from the dentist. Drum roll please. How stupid could I be.
I have an abscessed wisdom tooth. That is kind of funny in the fact that
when I was in my 20's supposedly I had all four removed because they were
impacted. The other tooth I broke eating crackers after I called the dentist
said he will take care of after I get the abscessed one out. He said to have
it removed as soon as possible because that is what is making me so sick.
The oral surgeon gave me a date of July 6. Like hello is that as soon as
possible. So I called back and left message for the dentist and his
receptionist said he has the home number of them and will call and see if he
can get me in next week.
So the dr today saying well it is really only a small UTI infection, that my
WBCs are not that high, in the high normal, that, it is anxiety that is
doing this, was dead wrong. I knew it wasn't anxiety. I just didn't know it
was an abscessed tooth. ;-)
I hate them blaming everything on anxiety. Yes I was having anxiety when at
the drs because they drive me crazy.
So I am hoping that clinic soon opens down here so I can get a dr there and
for a reasonable price too.
This has probably cost me thousands of dollars that we don't even have. I am
so ticked about it.
Talked with Denise after my drs appt because I was so ticked. He was asking
me about my tongue if I had trauma to the tongue. I said no, he said ok wait
here I have to look this up. So he did and came back and said it is ok.
Denise asked me if it was deep ridges in the tongue. I said I don't know
what he was talking about but yeah I have the deep ridges. She said that is
a sign of dehydration. Which I was not treated for. Dah.
I am dehydrated. I thought they were good at county but now know they are
not. You know me I like to think the best of people and then find out later
I was a putz. ;-)
I hope you are doing better. You take care also you hear. ;-)

Ok, Jo,
So this is the part where I come in. Call the dentist's office back and
ask if they put you to sleep. If not...get to one that does. And you want
the pain pills in your hand afterwards....you don't want to wait for the
'script to be filled. Planning ahead will save you a ton and a half of
misery if that's how it goes. If not then you've had an easy time of it.
But with FM and many of us having TMJ prepare ahead to stave off what
could be really bad...but won't be if they knock you out AND you have a
pre-filled pain pill 'script,ok?
Hang in there, Ol' Gal.
Hugs from Rosie

Oh, and be sure you tell them about TMJ problems so they can use a bite block
to ease the strain on your jaw muscles. I didn't even think about that as my
abcesses have all been in the front.

Jo, hope you can get that tooth out very soon so you can start getting over
how sick you have been and are. Guess the doctors are still just
practicing! Glad you got to the dentist. Still praying for yu and Jim.

((((((((((((((((SJ))))))))))))))) been there, done that. Been through 2
abcessed teeth myself and spent a small fortune last fall to insure that
another tooth doesn't re-abcess on me! It is an awful experience. Are they
keeping you loaded up on antibiotics for now? I've learned that they want to
get on top of the infection as much as possible even while waiting to drain
the abcess. Even more true with abcesses well up in the gum, which yours
might be. They don't want to risk spreading the infection. Also, some
abcesses will start to drain on their own if they keep you on antibiotics -
though I warn you it is a REALLY nasty taste!
Medical docs really don't seem to know much about the trickier stuff on the
dental front. When my tooth re-abcessed at the top of the root canal, they
thought it must be something sinus related (this was the emergency weekend
clinic as it hit me on Saturday morn). I saw my PCP later that week when I
wsn't improving on the antibiotics. She called the ENT clinic, still
thinking sinuses and wanting them to see me immediately. ENT told her it was
probably dental and had her send me down to the dental clinic pronto. Dental
it was, but the general practice medical folks didn't have the specific
training to catch it. I was lucky that we were in a seamless student clinic
situation at the time or I might not have been treated so quickly.
You might try to challenge some of the bill from county on the basis that
they failed to diagnose you properly. If you raise a fuss about that, they
might make some adjustments just to quiet you down. Sometiems one just is
justified in fussing.

Thanks for the info Nann, I will try to see what I can do.
I am kind of worried about having to wait till July 6th to have this taken
care of . I only have enough antib's till Wed. I miss counted. I thought it
was Mon. These antib's they have me on are for the bladder. I can't take any
other kind of antib's allergic to all the others.
I was feeling so much better yesterday but got hit again today. So not sure
what is going on. I am just trying to take it one day at a time right now,
that is all I can do.

another thought - is the abcessed tooth an upper or lower? When that blasted
upper tooth re-abcessed, the dentist had me keep my head elevated at all
times - even sleeping with my head elevated - to help the abcess drain. I
don't know if you should do that with an abcessed lower tooth though. I'd
say hot compresses to help it drain, but it sounds like your weather is
making hot compresses an intolerable idea.
I definitely recommend contacting your dentist about getting more antibiotics
to keep this knocked down. Whichever one it is that you can take - that
infection can kick back up again in no time until it gets all cleaned out.
Man, I do hope they can get you in sooner and that taking care of this helps
you a lot. We've had a cool summer here except for about 4 days. I'll see
if I can't manage to blow some of this air out west to you!

It is lower left side. The other tooth that crumbled is upper right. So it
is interesting trying to eat. But I did eat good yesterday.
I still can't believe I was told all my wisdom teeth were being taken out
and now I have an abscessed wisdom tooth. Oh what can you do.
I will be talking with dentist place tomorrow if I can. Oh shoot they are
only open on Tuesday thur Sat. Well I will talk with the oral surgeons on
Mon if they are open. then my dentist on Tues.

Not yet. I hope to hear something tomorrow. Weekends are bad to get info
back from them.
I did feel better yesterday, but then today felt terrible again, but it
seemed cooler, not as dry heat as today so that might be the difference. We
will see. I still think to a certain extent I am better today but tummy and
feverishh feeling are kicking my rear.
