Hi,
You posted in February that your wife had had continuing wrist
problems long after carpal tunnel surgery. I'm wondering whether she's
had any improvement now.
I ask because at that time I myself was two months post-carpal
tunnel surgery and I too was experiencing very painful and
range-of-motion-limiting wrist problems: the surgery seemed to have
simply replaced the carpal tunnel pains with new and different ones.
When I talked with the surgeon about this he told me that I had
arthritis in the wrist and I simply should expect not to be able
to do certain things that I had never had trouble with before.
Well now I am about 6 months past the surgery: the pain is gone; the
range of motion is back so strongly that I can now twist open jars
that I hadn't been able to handle before I started having carpal
tunnel symptoms; the ongoing tingling and numbness that he had
predicted [because I waited so long that the nerve was essentially
useless] never developed. I'm hoping that your wife has had the same
experience.

I'm glad you asked Thelma, I've been meaning to update everyone but life
has been happening. My wife had carpal tunnel surgery on the right hand
only. She got a little relief from the tingling but not much else. When
she saw the RD she was told the CP was slight and the problem was the
OA. Splints etc. were the recommendation.
None of this seemed to be helping much. On the word of a friend she has
been seeing an acupuncturist with great success. Her pain level is down
considerably. He is now working on relief for her back problems. She
says she doesn't care how Chinese medicine works but she knows it is
helping her.
Thanks for asking,
Cooly
