Harvey R. Stone - 20 Jun 2006 13:36 GMT Hi All from Houston which seems to be floating in some places,,,,,,which reminds me that this place is about as far south as Tampa, Fla. It is like the cold and ice and snow up east or in Canada. It just is part of how this place is and works. I had the thought the other day that at we are not having to bring in the national guard to keep order like New Orleans. Welllll,,, we are getting the guard for other reasons, I hear on the news this morning. One good thing about having a good dem. mayor and a rep. gov.,,,, :-) they try to out do each other to take care of the people which is not a bad thing. By the way,,,, I said a very stupid thing the other day in the newsgroup in that 99.999 % of pastors control what is said and done in a service. Dumb, dumb,,,,, anything I said to any reply that did not agree would seem that I was critizzzzzing or being judgmental about someone else's way of practicing religion and I do not intend to do that. What you hear in the news has a way of telling the tale far better than anything I might say or not say if a person can see what is being said and the results of it. Things happen that have a way of controlling things. I have not been able to get to my computer because the roof of that room caved in due to the condensate pipe being broke when they put one of those new tech. air conditioners in my house. They say in Houston that an A.C. pull 16 gallons a day out of the air.... :-) about half that went into the insulation above the comp. room for a couple of days. Down it came.... So it goes. I say all this in a way to say that life sometimes has a way of controlling us. I have gotten better at rolling with the punches but with all this going on,,, I have to admit that I have several joints and other problems acting up as I try to handle them as best I can. In the middle of all this both of my fish ponds in the back yard had all the fish die even though it was medicated as soon as it was noticed to be taking place. Tooo late,,,, some fish we have had for 5-8 years and those ponds have to be covered to keep from becoming a mosquito farm. Welll, they say its more rain today. We shall see what it brings. Please forgive my running on at the mouth. I have not been able to get to my computer.
:-) Harv

Living even further south than Tampa it's only now you can actully get home repairs done in a timely fashion here. Hope that's not the case for you.:-(
So how's the building the Ark going? Don't be a hog there -- send your rain to Arizona, ok?

You might get so much rain that it makes people walk on the other side of the hill and people will start falling over because of the short leg being on the wrong side. LOLOL Oooh, it pouring down and I have a neighbor that his sprinkler system is going..... wait tell he gets home. LOL He will do what he always does,,, break out the beer and head for the pool table to make me pay for laughing at his sprinklers. Such is life when you are retired which I am and he is not. I offered him my set of water wings to get to work and he did not think it was funny. I did. Harv

Sorry to hear about your water problems & your fish dying. {{Harv}} You can put about a tea spoon of liquid dish soap in the pond to brake the surface tension, then the mosquito larvae can't breathe.
To bad you can't send some of that extra water to Sedona Az where johnie lives.

I offered to pay for some of the new pipes up there to handle the condensate but they would not take anything. :-) But then,,,, I did not charge them for my cleaning up all that fallen insulation and water mess and that was their fault,,,, sooo it all works out I guess. diclidophora@yahoo.co.uk - 21 Jun 2006 15:03 GMT Hello Harv.
Sorry to hear about all your problems. Bad joints certainly don't help when you have other troubles to solve.
Re the rain. Evidently the SE of England has a drought situation and they are even talking about desalination plants. Mind you, they admit that a third of the water in London is wasted because it leaks from the pipes. Personally, I have always thout that it is ridiculous to talk about drought in the UK. The place gets so much rain most of us are glad to escape to warmer climates when we can. Drought is mostly due to mismanagement here. They build more and more houses without attending properly to the infrastructure. There seems to be no logical regional plan (mainly because most people want to live in the warmer wealthier parts of the country) Ah well, this is all some distance from your air con and fish worries. Hope your pain improves
Good luck and best wishes

> Good luck and best wishes > > Peter Thanks Peter,,,, Ooooh, there is a brighter side to most anything if you look hard enough. The rain has gone away and did not go to Ariz. where it is needed to put out the fires. I find out that my wife just hated to clean the filters in the fish tanks and is glad that job is gone. I could clean them but once I got down on my knees to do the job,,,, :-) I could not get up. The guy that does sheetrock has come and gone and that is all like new. I still have morning stiffness in my knees and one wrist but that also will improve with time. I just know it. I didn't used to "just know it" but after a few years of Enbrel winning against my immune system,,,, I just know it now. Welllll, in about a half month my youngest daughter and her husband (very English) will be with us for about a month and then they are off to some university to put their doctors to work but I have a month to put a little Texan into a great guy that I really like.... Sooo living and working at Leeds Univ where pipes leak and houses made in the 1800's will be just a memories. So it goes as we watch life happen. Harv
ladylove77 - 22 Jun 2006 03:47 GMT So glad it's cleaned up and the AC company paid for it. They should have. Gwen

Good thing it isn't winter. I seem to remember that when they came over to see you last time, you caught a cold that lasted forever. Leeds is a bit of a cold bleak sort of place - but then I would say that - I'm a Lancastrian by birth !
My knees are impossibly stiff as well. At present I am trying to cut down on the NSAID because I am getting gut trouble, but they have never been any good right from the first serious dose of RA. We have devised a sort of jacking system. If I have to get down at ground level to fix something, I can't get up without some help - so - I get into a sitting position and my wife inserts books under my bum until I get to the sort of height where I can slide on to one of those low foot stools. From there I can usually lever myself up and slide on to a wooden chair. After that - so to speak - the world is my oyster.
Best wishes. Enjoy your grandson and give him one of those ten gallon hats to wear.
Peter

The story of your ceiling reminds me of the tree falling on my mom's house. We kept telling folks we realized that a tree *falling* makes little or no sound - it's the *landing* that's loud! <chuckle> I fear you will have a major mess for a while. Prayers for reliable contractors and fast repair work. Man, lots of stuff lies ahead for you!
(BTW, I didn't think you were being critical of other denominations or religions, just generalizing from your own experience. Churches are very different in how they do things and most of us can't keep up with all of them!)

Churches are very > different in how they do things and most of us can't keep up with all of > them!) Hi Nann,,,, I have been involved with two different churches dividing. I know that people do not like to think of Satan's work as being just that. It is the devils work and I say that because of the amount of hard feelings, the hateful deeds that people do to have There Own way,,,..... I have seen pastors and assistant pastors and music directors with raised voices and that joke does apply..... It is enough to make Christ cry for us and our struggles. I have never taken part in such as that other than to stand and make a few people see themselves as others do and I have voted to replace a pastor once and a music director and organist on another occasion and on both times the tears just ran down my face..... and the devil smiles. It is why that joke is so cruel,,,, too much truth. I do not know why I am saying all this other than to share the way I see the world around us. Thanks for the kindness in your words. Harv
