Bonnie, you would hope  with all the modern medical knowledge that CP
would have been eradicated, but that is not the case.  Lots of research
is still being done and hopefully answers will be found.

I don't think you can "cure" CP--it is a result of injury to brain stem
(cerebellum).  I was born head first--but forced back in birth canal.

Rookie nurses didn't know how to deliver premie baby  Doc was not there
yet.  Nurses  quit after I was born--mom was so young (20) --to know she
could have sued the hospital--mom said we were treated pretty well after
my birth--hosp. was afraid they be sued....but they were not.....should
have been tho......

Born in 1964.......Bonnie

I misspoke Bonnie, didn't mean a cure but knowledge of how some birth
defects can be prevented by good medical care.  This includes prenatal
as well as the actual birth process.  I have a good friend who had her
youngest daughter severly damaged by a forceps delivery nine years ago.
The little girl has undergone several surgeries so far and the parents
elected not to sue for some reason.  I've often thought that their
insurance company could have forced them to sue but it hasn't happened.
Someone also told me that with an injured child, suit may be filed up to
eightenn years old.
