Hi Bettina, I do not remember anyone saying anything about in this
newsgroup. Do you want to tell us why a person would have that done?
Harv
You had some nerve blocks done? Sorry to hear that they didn't take,
Bettina. There's another kind called RF ( stands for Radio Frequency)
ablation and that's painful too...but with that they really do destroy the
nerve roots. Did you have the blocks on your lumbar spine? Or was it your
neck...the neck's the most common place.
What do you think you'll do instead of nerve blocks?
Hugs from Rosie

the reason for having this nerve killing done is to stop the pain in my
lower back.i have degenative arthritis, that's what my doctor tells me
after many test.i tried the regular injections with steroids that work
for awhile.now i am on long term medication that i take two times
daily.so at last this is giving me some relief.as it does not take all
the pain away, but it is so i can handle it,i get evaluated every thirty
days and the medicine will be increased as needed.this is my second
month. on this new pill.
so i may after a month do the nerve killing procedure again,i go to the
pain clinic for that.but you have to wait 6 months before they will do
it again and the second time is suppose to be more successful.i have
really been depressed over this back pain.i am a retired LPN worked in
the hospital for 40 years.it is good to come here where there is
understanding of what i go though.
thank you for your response.

I have had nerve blocks done, some in the office setting and some under
anethestic (sp). the ones in office were a little un nerving but I did it.
the deep rooted nerve blocks in my spine were never felt cause I was asleep
but they DID WORK...so far since last fall NO pain in the head but still
stiff neck.
http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article200.html this is a
rhizotomy where they deaden the nerve root. But a problem my pain doc told
me with this is,. if you get it done and it is what they call burning the
nerve! well the nerve eventually will regenerate and grow back. When it
does SOMETIMEs the pain comes back with a vengence and another rhizotomy is
done. This is something I have to "think" about IF my pain returns. so
far it is NOT on my mind :)..
but that is or might be what you are referring too. Am I right??
Where are you having injections done??

thank you janers,
this is exactly what i had, this article is the best one i have seen,i
thank you so much for it,i going to save it.mine was done at the pain
clinic, under xray, they gave me a small sedative, not enough to knock me
out,as i had to tell them when i felt the terrible pain,it worked for a
very short time.i can have it done again in june as they say they like
to wait 6 months before doing it again,i am thinking about it,as i am so
tired of the pain.the medication i am taking does help with the pain, but
i would like to be pain free for at least a couple of hours.it is so
good to have someone understand this pain we have.
thank all of you for your response.
