hi group,
i'm on my way to johns hopkins today for the annual cat scan of the
growth in my pancreas. this growth is a type that often turns malignant
after 5-15 years. i've had it at least eight. every year they check to
see if it's grown. if it grows, even if it looks otherwise benign, i'll
have to have an operation called the whipple procedure to remove it.
very serious surgery in which they remove a bunch of otherwise healthy
organs and long long recovery time. it would wreak havoc on my work,
which can't handle much more havoc right now! anyhow, i feel
particularly nervous this year because of being at the max dose of
remicade and the link between remi and cancers. so i have the scan
today and see the doc at hopkins tomorrow, which is great--i'll get the
news quickly. i feel very well aside from RA, so am hopeful. please
send good vibes toward baltimore!

hugs and thanks,

diane

Good vibes already on the way, to you and all the others on ASA who have been
having such a rough time lately.

well, I'm a little late for good vibes for the test, but you have them for
the waiting-for-results period.  Just feel yourself wrappe din the warm, cozy
ASA group hugs, relax and be at peace.  All will be well.

thanks so much, everybody!
the results were good, or at least as good as could be. the tumor/cysty
thing hasn't grown any larger, so i'm off the hook for now. the doc did
say he'd like to move my cat scan to an every six months basis,
especially since i'm on remicade. ugh. i'll have to find a good
pancreatic doc down here in the raleigh area since going to hopkins
every six months will get old really fast. but i feel verrrrry
relieved. thanks for the prayers and good wishes,

good, good news.  well, if there are any good pancreatic docs in NC (and
there must be) there'd be one in that research triangle area.  I hope you've
managed to get some decent insurance somewhere though if you're looking at
semi-annual CAT scans!

Glad to hear this diane, I know about those things too. I have masses on
both of my adrenals and I had to go back every 6 months for three years for
them to CT scan to see if any changes.

I wish you luck with your tumor. I hope all turns out well for you.
