I have been going to a chiropractor for 5 months and am almost through
my course of treatment. My left neck/shoulder still hurts ( and is
impinging on my golf---this seems to be the point where I usually seek
treatment instead of ignoring it)...Has anyone ever gotten relief from
chiropractic treatments for arthritis? How about therapeutic massage?
I have also been receiving this and the therapist says it shouldn't
hurt like it does. I figured it probably had to hurt to get better but
it isn't getting better.

Yes, my oldest son had his hip to loose it range of motion. A Chiro.
fixed him up in a few treatments and he also said that a therapeutic massage
always made him feel better. Being a wise a.s,,,, I told him that he
needed to go fishing more and dealing with stressful people less while
paying more attention to his wife and child.... LOLOL all I did was make
him angry at me,,, LOL,, so it goes.

I have... in no way is chiropractic care or massage a cure but I did find it
helped.

In my opinion, after 5 months of treatment and no results, there are other
issues involved here and you need to see a doctor.
I have used chiropractic extensively in the past over the course of many
years and generally have had great relief from one or two adjustments.
I also found all that relief masked a problem in my neck that got worse and
worse and ultimately resulted in near emergency surgery on my spine.
Do you have any tingling/pain in your fingers (last two-little one and the
one next to it)? My neck and shoulder pain turned out to be my elbow
crushing the ulnar nerve and the pain radiated up into my shoulder and neck.
Still does, after having the nerve moved, due to the damage it suffered. It
just won't get any worse now. I am told that acupuncture can provide relief
for some. Might be worth a try. I too golf and refuse to let my troubles
affect me. Of course I take a pain pill before I play. If I don't take the
pill, then shortly after I certainly do. I play better if I don't take it as
I have more feeling for the shots, but by the 16th tee I'm pretty sore.
Generally, I have trouble with golf in my lower back where I have extensive
ddd.
I hope you find an answer for your trouble soon and can get back to playing.
I would be "lost" without the game.

Yep, I get both on a regular basis. However, I think it is unrealistic to
think the pain will go away completely. But, it does help me maintain a
range of motion in my arms and neck. I would suspect if you're determined
to play golf, the next step would be cortisone shots. Nanny
