DeeTee and Bob Taggart - 25 May 2006 13:27 GMT Well, we're home (or at least back at our ranch apartment in Ohio). We got in yesterday afternoon after what seemed like forever in Bob's sportscar seats in his Ford Focus. I told him next time we take my wagon! Had the first really good night's sleep in a week. I don't do too well in hotels.
Loved just about every minute of our trip and can hang on here for a while longer now. I know we have a job to do here, and will be here until it's done. Our next step will be a trip up to Cleveland to meet Bob's son from his first marriage. He hasn't seen him for at least 33 years and I've never met him. He and his wife live up there with her son from her first marriage. So we're looking forward to that. It won't be until after July 22nd, though, because I'm directing a play for then. Jumping into the auditions tonight to chose my actors.
I missed youse guys and gals!

It dries me out something fierce - and with Sjogren's, that's the last thing I need. Also, no matter that I know it's psychological, I don't like sleeping in a bed that others have slept in, even with clean linens.

Two reasons: My pillow is dust proofed and hotel pillows rarely are and even in a strange bed, I always sleep better with my own pillow. If it's a trip where sleep is really critical, Mike will take his as well for the latter reason.
And if you think about it, at least then the cleanliness of the part of the bed your face is in is under your control. (and of course, if you remove the bedspread, you've removed the least washed part of the bed. Even the guy who does the "dirty Jobs" show recommends that!)
As for the a/c............. well, you do what you can. I do tend to take really, really steamy showers in motels to help out my sinuses. Man, last time we were in a motel was on church business so we didn't choose the place. I didn't think to check into their amenities - they had a nice hot tub and I didn't have my suit! sigh.......... It was a weekend that I really could have used it with all the hours of sitting in enclosed buildings.....

DeeTee and Bob Taggart - 26 May 2006 13:52 GMT Yes - my pillow is my companion and I don't like bedspreads. Even here at home I use a quilt rather than bedspread. Having my own pillow allows me to sleep on the bed. LOL I know that it's at least partially psychological, but that's just the way it is.
Hugs, DeeTee

Groaning with you about car rides & hotel nights. Just did that myself, and as much as I love to get away I always fall into my own bed upon our return saying, "There's no place like home..." (Sometimes call my bed 'Auntie Em')
What play is this? How do I audition? LOL
luv&stuff, Denise
DeeTee and Bob Taggart - 26 May 2006 01:18 GMT It's one for a church annual celebration honoring the handcart companies that went across to Utah. As of tonight, though, no one showed up. It just "might" be because we're under tornado watches in the majority of counties in central Ohio. We'll try again next week just in case. If no one shows up then, I'm off the hook.

Norman - 26 May 2006 03:42 GMT I deeply sympathize with you.
I remember once driving from Philadelphia to south of DC (just outside the beltway) non-stop in a sedan.
When I got to the motel, I had to hobble around the parking lot for 15 minutes getting the KINKS out before I could stand up straight enough to go in and register.

Nann Bell - 26 May 2006 13:07 GMT Oh! and I forgot to say I'm delighted to hear you had good visits with all the family and friends. I know how it is - we so love getting back down to visit Gainesville. In fact, Mike often buys a day bus pass and rides all over town just to enjoy being there again. (I don't as I'm usually doing stuff with my mom.)

Navy1 - 30 May 2006 21:00 GMT That sounds like a lot of fun for some one who's been gone for awhile. Thanks for the idea.

There were some pretty big tree limbs down in town, but we don't have any trees around to lose their limbs. Thanks for asking, Hon.

I hope you don't get our winds back that way now. Man it is so bad, it is like hurricane or tornado force winds. I can't believe it. This is our delta breeze. LOL ;-) Our sky is blue though.
