Well I saw the neurologist, she is the top MS specialist, said that the
radiologist really over reacted on my scan. Said the lesions 2 of them not 4
like she had said have been there since 2000 and no change. That the tumor
on the pineal gland is a cyst and that it is not any big deal, although I
know 2 people who have it and they take meds for it.
That is great that I don't have MS, but I still have no answers to why I
have pressure at the base of my neck, pain in my lower back, and my legs get
numb and tingly all the way to the bottom of my feet, so not sure where I go
from here.
She said maybe a nerve conducted study, I am not sure about those I heard
they are very very painful of the low back and legs, but can't live like
this, I still think it is the orthodics and the shoes, switching back and
forth and nothing seems to help.
thanks
Becky

Becky, I'm glad you don't have MS but I hope they find out what the
problem is. I had a nerve conduction study on both legs and spine and
it was not at all painful. There was another test they did the same day
and I can't remember what it was and that wasn't painful either. The
test where they put teeny needles in you absolutely was not painful. I
could feel them and the doctor was wiping off specks of blood but there
was no pain. The tests with the electrodes gave little jolts but that's
all. I drove myself home afterwards with no problem. Turned out I have
peripheral neuropathy. Please don't be afraid of the nerve conduction
test.

Thanks Ann, I will have to have it done probably after I get back from
California, now I just got a call that I can go back on the enbrel, but I am
not sure if I want to, can't really tell a difference since I have been off
it now for 3 weeks, and don't want the hassle of taking the needles on the
plane.
Thanks again
Becky

Hi Becky,
I'm no doctor, but I have found simple stretch exercises have done
wonders for my back ache/pain (due to RA in both hips and spine and
every where else). I get tingling also, but put it down to a nerve
getting pinched from the inflammation. Have you tried reflexology? I
was on holidays in Malaysia one year and I really could not walk so my
good husband said "let's try foot massage" - did I cry - it was so
painful but I actually was able to enjoy my holidays afterwards. When I
came home I went to a reflexologist for about 5 weekly sessions, now my
husband has learnt to do it. It was not a cure but it certainly
helped.
Best of luck, Gail

Gail,
It is so strange that you would mention reflexology, I was just talking to a
friend who has a friend that does it and is looking for someone with RA to
see if it helps and has offered to try it on me for free, so I am going to
take her up on it. What exercises have you done that has helped? I went to
the chiropractor tonight and she helped a little in my neck but not much,
thanks for the information

oh, becky, that's wonderful news! i know it's still frustrating to not
have answers, but i was so upset to think you had ms. i've had the
nerve conduction tests. it seems to be painful for some and not for
others. i found it uncomfortable but once it's over, it's over and they
have info they need.

Hi Becky,
I have a beginners yoga DVD with lots of stretching exercises on it -
these are really great as you just don't over do things. My
phsyotherapist suggested lying on my tummy and lifting my chest up but
keeping my hips on the bed/floor for when the back gets too much to
handle and it really does work. One thing I do know that when I sit for
more than five minutes I start to go very stiff so I keep moving. When
I'm working on the computer I get up every few minutes and stretch or
just walking to the kitchen and back. I was real glad to are going to
try the reflexology - you have nothing to lose.
Best of luck
Gail

Becky,
I am glad you don't have MS. I am glad it is not a tumor also.
I sure do hope they find some way to figure this all out and help you out
with it all. You are still in my thoughts.
