so, those of you with fibro as well as arthritis, do you tend to notice the
fibro flaring with the arthritis? I'm asking because I've had a back-to-back
fronts coming through type flare the past 4 days (finally easing some this
afternoon). I'm accustomed to my body aching in general with flares and
joints aching even more, but this has been brutal on some of the muscles as
well. I've had my hamstrings totally cramped up from exercise without them
aching the way the have the alst 4 days! Add shoulder, neck and upper arms
muscles and the bad joints and it's been a rough flare. Luckily the
weather's supposed to be stable the rest of the week so I hope it ease off.
I guess it's just the fibro flaring with the other, but I've never had fibro
flare to this degree without major physical exertion. I surely don't want
something else starting or worsening.

Hi!
Hopefully, this will turn out to be a non-sequitor. I do not have fibro. But
you are describing how I felt before getting Vitamin D supplements. (Random
muscles cramping or hurting. Movement gates the pain, but doesn't make it go
away.)

Yeah Nann,
Both the OA and the FM are rain indicators for me. But Fibro being what
it is it sometimes comes along for the ride when I have excess inflammation.
Or precedes it. Or brings up the rear. One thing that is true about FM is
that it flares when IT wants to and not on anyone's schedule...except if
you're stressed about something. Then you have a high probability for a
fibro flare.
Does MSM + C work for you? I used to increase that when weather was
comin' thru. I up my dose of Neurontin if I'm FM flaring to stave off the
symptoms you have or to help until the low pressure weather passes thru (
funny, huh, from Hurricane Alley here) and that seems to work. Are U like me
in being able to tell FM from arthritc pains?

hmmm, haven't ever tried MSM, partly because we've been on such a limited
budget since things last went out of control and partly becuase I'm so damn
tired of taking pills as it is! May have to try it though.
Thanks for the reassurance from you and others though. I've never had it hit
my hamstrings like this, sometimes the quad but not hamstrings before. With
Mother having been fighting PMR for several years without it ever completely
clearing..... and it started in her thigh muscles...... and it's considered
autoimmune also.... and the autoimmune glitch seems to have hit me hardest of
our family........ I've been a bit worried that it might be that starting up
for me. It did improve a bit with the weather settling in this afternoon, so
maybe there's hope for tomorrow. I can't believe I was digging up the grass
for gardens much of last week and it takes all I have to get off the couch or
out of bed now. sigh....... I've been here before, but I guess I thought
with restarting Enbrel I would flare THIS badly with the weather!
Yeah, it's been really low pressure here through the shifting weather.
Trust me, that happens even this far away from the hurricane zone! LOL

I feel for all of you that have been flaring. I have been too. So I always
think of all of you when I am, because I know I am not alone. ;-)
You all take care and hopefully the flaring stops.

HECK YEAH!!!! Sorry for yelling...Alot of the time my FM goes full blown
when my OA is flaring...and Rosie...sometimes it is hard to figure which is
which...But mostly I know...But when they both on are on full blown
attack...Lord help me...

Heya Cindy,
I can tell ya just from myself. Hot when ya touch it, like a furnace and
going bone deep-arthritis. Burning like a sunburn or stinging like a bee
sting-FM/CMP.
Like a toothache in a joint area ( including the bones of the
spine)-arthritis. Achy in a longitudinal way like the flu or losing a boxing
match (lol) - FM
Stiffiness that fades in an hour or 2 - arthritis. Stiffness that comes
and goes and moves around seemingly at random - FM/CMP
So Cindy, see if you can remember having the different kinds of pains or
see if you can distinguish them as they may be for you the next time you get
'em.
I think what this shows as to myself is I've had these DDs (Danged
Disorders) for too many years. Ack.
Hugs from Rosie

well, I can usually tell the difference, but not always. Then again, I'm a
PA'er and PA can affect soft tissues as well. Sometimes it's hard to tell
whether it's PA hitting a tendon or FM hitting a muscle. That is, until some
doc has pressed on key areas and then I know how to tell from then on.......
When I tried to type over the weekend and each keystroke felt like someone
was jamming in my finger with a 50 lb weight, that was PA. Hammies so sore
and cramped up I couldn't touch my toes (remember, I'm hypermobile too so I
usually put my palms flat on the floor with ease) and spasming at times -
more like FMS, assuming I'm not developing PMR.
If I recall correctly, Rosie, you and I are basically the same age. We're
way too young to be feeling like we're 96!

Good afternoon all,
I also suffer from Fibromyalgia , generalized pain syndrome, Myofascia
pain and of course OA, currently waiting on sed rates to see if there is any
RA .
The Firbro seems to flare more in the heat then the cold for me. Mostly
though when Im stressed.
I live in Florida, so who can escape the unbearable heat?
lol

Hi Nann!
With the spondyloarthropathies (PA, ReA, AS) enthetisis(sp?) is often
a problem-inflammation where the tendon inserts into bone.
Plantar's fasciitis is one manifestation of this. The MTX finally
kicked PF's butt for me, but the resulting hamstring tightness is still
with me. (Even with Enbrel, azulfidine and methotrexate). It's a bitch,
no doubt about it. There are stretches you can do, but they didn't work
for me.
To answer your original question, both my AS and the fibro do what they
want when they want, like Rosemarie said.
It sucks!
