My recently widowed sister who absolutely must work (bookkeeper) was told by
her hand surgeon she needs carpal tunnel surgery very soon. Any comments
would be welcome and helpful for her. Thanks. Jan O'

One of the better surgeries I've had done. My hand surgeon prefers open to
endoscopic for the results.
I don't remember all the things that help, but I do remember that white
cotton gloves (you can get them in the pharmacy) help to keep the bandages
clean and in place.
I learned I could do a lot more one handed than I ever thought. Tie shoes
and crack and open an egg are two things.
When I had the first hand done and went in the next morning for the surgeon
to look at it all I wanted to know was when can you do the other one. The
carpal tunnel pain disappeared immediately and the pain from surgery and
recovery was nothing compared to that.

My carpal tunnel surgeries were a pure joy for me. There was improvement so
rapidly it surprised me. My family was much amused as I kept touching
everything to see how it felt again after 2 years + of numb fingers! Mine
were done before the endoscopic route began to be used so I can't comment
much on that, but I know the recovery time is much faster this way.
