I am reading all the elbow posts and don't seem to find my miserable
situation. Several years ago I fell and broke the left arm so there is an
8" rod and at least 6 screws in that arm. Earlier I had a revision in the
left elbow and that did lessen the pain some. Both elbows are very loose
and need replacing but 2 rheumys just shake their heads and don't think an
elbow can be attached to the other hardware.
I've also had rotator cuff surgery and regained full ROM in one month and
then fell (at Cripple Creek) and broke that shoulder--which has healed up
quite well. I don't fall often but when I have I just crashed down.
Neither elbow will straighten so I have to have my hands propped up just so
to sleep and spend lots of the night re-arranging the goose down comforter
and pillows. Also, almost all my sleeves have to be shortened.

Jan, I sympathize on the shoulder. I had rotator cuff repair in June of
2004 and had finished therapy and was doing so well. Then I picked up more
than I should have with that arm and re-tore the rotator cuff. Had it
repaired again in December. Stayed in therapy a little longer that time,
but it works well now.

Don't know if which of them are magicians, but Google found the American
Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons group which lets you searach for members.

Then again, my hand guy, who I really like, also does elbows and shoulders
but isn't a membe rof the above, so who knows? I do feel for you - it's only
by good fortune that I didn't end up in your situation through a couple of
bad breaks. It does sound like you need an ortho consult to determine just
what, if anything, can be done for you.
