From medscape:

http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/528188_4

The conclusion of this study:
"We have shown that methotrexate-treated PsA patients have a higher
incidence of hepatotoxicity than methotrexate-treated patients with
RA. Our study focused on alcohol as a confounding factor, and found
that there is no direct relationship between consumption of alcohol
and liver injury in these patients. It has been proposed that patients
with RA are inherently less susceptible to methotrexate hepatotoxicity
than are psoriatic patients..."

sigh...................

Mike flipped out briefly when we got the insurance statement and learned how
much my liver biopsy will be costing us.  Would have been even worse, but we
hit the max out-of-pocket for the year for me on that procedure.  (more
reason to get the other thumb done next fall after gardening season is over,
but still this calendar year!)

anyway, this makes me even more glad to know the low albumins have NOT been a
sign of liver damage.  I wonder if they've yet studied hepatotoxicity in
people taking mtx solely for severe psoriasis, not PsA.  Would their
susceptiblity be the same as the PsA pop.?  always more questions.

I also wonder if this is true for all of the spondyloarthropathies or
just PsA. I have AS and am on injectable MTX. I sure hope I don't have
any problems because adding that to my 'cocktail' has made a huge
difference for me.
Thanks for posting this,
