Just cuz Gwen asked! :-P

Let's see, I am doing fairly well. Ankle surgery in December has healed
well. I started going to the gym again this week. We'll see how long I
last this time! Still doing the Orienca study, study has been extended
til at least July so I don't have to worry about fighting insurance for
awhile.

I've been working my butt off on eBay trying to help make ends meet
around here. That's not leaving me a lot of free time. But at the same
time it doesn't give me time to whine either! LOL

Danielle is doing very well. Working hard (of course!) at high school
and staying on her self made course to med school. Report cards came
home today, she got a 4.0 (big surprise there!) She still has the
frequent battles with depression and self esteem but what teen girl
doesn't? I really think she has a good handle on those things now.

Robbie got his temporary driver's license today! AKKKKKKKK! He's
getting good grades. He only had one "disruptive in class" comment on
his report card so thats an improvement! LOL Just finished wrestling
season and decided not to go out for a Spring sport so he can work on
gaining weight and muscle for football season.

Bob's been working overtime lately so I haven't seen a whole lot of him
but that's not always a bad thing!

All in all things are good in Ohio!

I do miss you guys, it just seems like I never have time to sit down
and post over here. But if ya need me, just holler! I'm right here!!!

Good to see you KJ. I have had one computer failure after another until
HP finally just replaced the thing. So I am finally back in the fold
again after our move.

We miss you! Will there be a gimp picnic this year, do you think? We're
close enough now that we could drive up.

If there's enough interest, I'd love to have a picnic this year! It
would have to be mid August. After the fund raiser I'm working on is
over (www.dndfund.org), that takes a huge amount of time, especially in
the couple weeks right before it. And before football season starts.

So if people will come I will have it!

I'd come, but I don't know if there's enough other interest.  As of the last
time I went to RheumorWeb, it appeared the Myrtle Beach Gimpfest was on hold
until further notice also.

Good to hear that all of you are doing well.  As for the gym, don't
overdo but keep pushing yourself to go for at least 2-3 months.  Once
you reach that point, you begin to crave it, heehee.  Dang I miss
having a decnt gym nearby!

I've been wondering about gimpfests/picnics too.  I need a Nann
vacation sometime before I do the other thumb.

We DO miss you here.

Oh Char I am sooo sorry to hear about your fall and other issues. I
can relate to the fractured humerus, and know how helpless a person
can become.

So sorry that things can not be repaired. All I can say is hang in
there, and know that I am thinking about you and saying prayers for a
fast recovery.

char, how awful. i'm so sorry to hear you're going through all of this.
for mouth sores i use gly oxide. helps with the pain and shortens
healing time, at least i've convinced myself it does.

hugs and good wishes for a speedy recovery from that fall.

Ooh, wish you were doing better.  But hearing from you, even like this, is
so much better than not hearing from you at all.  We love you and we worry.

I'd do it if I could hear, but could some of you who can use the phone get
updated from Char once in a while and post them?

Char, I take it you read the group but find it hard to post.

I remember you often and send good thought.  Usually in kind of a general
way.  Much more specific prayers go our when my shoulders act up.  Mine
aren't too bad, but are a reminder just how hard it is to get comfortable
when your shoulders hurt.

Sending some virtual lilacs.  Its been raining here, but they finally gave
it up and bloomed anyway.  They smell so good.  Maybe I'll include some
cherry blossoms.  I'm sure we have plenty for the neighborhood, and for all
the birds.

Its been a miracle.  But not up to carrying on a telephone conversation.  I
can use the phone on a limited basis if I know who I'm talking to but that
is about it.

I use a speaker phone, but the speakers on the ones we have right now aren't
very good.  The kids keep breaking or losing the phones, but I suspect since
I don't care for the current ones, they will last forever.

I do really well in a fairly quiet setting.  Not so great in a noisy
environment.  I tend to forget between trips out just how much background
noise there is in stores and restaurants.

I can watch old uncaptioned movies on TV if I really concentrate, and can
sometimes listen to talk shows on the car radio.

LOL.  I'm sitting here having my morning quiet time.  I don't wear the
implant if there is no one around to talk to.  And I'm profoundly deaf
without it.

Its my time because for this time, I don't have to make the extra effort.
It just gets exhausting sometimes to have to work so hard at it.

But it such a blessing to have the choice.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{char}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}},

im so sorry so much is going wrong. Do you and myron have some help or
is it just you and myron. Have you had a chance to look into some part
time assistance. If you want some help tracking down that info for your
area let me know. There are a few things that can be done long distance
and I know you both must be exhausted.

But Now lets do something about those mouth sores. If you search 'mouth
sores' for this group alot of good info will pop up. There is a real
variety of approaches.

Some Basics Are:

First. Take your Folic Acid. at least 4mg. daily

        Take L-Lysine.

Take Acidolphylus...make a rinse out of the capsules. is
critical in getting your system        rebalanced.

Numb them down with Benadry and Mallox. Mix it and rub it in.
IF this isn't working call your doc and get a script for a mouth sore
gel product that has cortisone in it. OKAY.

IMPORTANT to keep your diet on the alkaline side/no acidic
foods.
RINSE with warm salt water/then do it again. Keep that mouth ultra
clean.
no tooth paste. use baking soda.

NOW, here is something I used last year and it was a miracle. I rarely
get em so a mouth full freaked me out and this stuff cleared them in 2
days. A friend gave me some and it is a relatively inexpensive
supplement.
Deglycyrrhizinated licorice.  (DGL) is the herb licorice which
has had the glycyrrhizic acid removed. Glycyrrhizic acid is the portion
of licorice root which can increase blood pressure and cause water
retention in some people. The wound-healing and soothing components of
the root remain in DGL. You just rinse with this stuff or chew on it.
It has to be the DGL cause other licorice products will increase blood
pressure.
You can get it as a chocolate chew and its good. This worked for me.

I hope this works for you the way it did for me. If you cant get it let
me know and I will get and  mail you some but it will take a few days.

Please let all of us know how you are getting along as often as you
can.

Big Healing Desert Hugs,
johnie
