Hi folks,

Mom called yesterday as she had dad put in the hospital with chest pain.
They found some blockage in a very difficult area to work on and they have
ruled out surgery as they believe he would not survive it. He is 85 yrs old.
They are considering a stint or balloon, but they also say that will be
extremely risky. He is doing fine for now.  That is all.

Sending good thoughts, Gary! My grandma is the Queen of stents, I lost
count at NINE! She just had another put in last month. They always say
it's risky and that this will be the last one, but she always does
fine. Hope your Dad does well!

Gary,
I am sorry to hear about your dad, I will lift him up in prayer and also
your mom for strength at this time.  My own mom just has had her 3 stint put
in and it is amazing how fast they can recoup. Wishing the best for your
dad,
Becky

Ah, prayers for your dad and your mom.  Hopefully, they can help him some
with medication.  Went through a similar thing with my dad when he was 80 -
in his case bypass surgery was ruled out because of his osteoporosis from RA
and medrol.  It's a big part of why I try to avoid steroids.

Let us know what they decide.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I know the "Big Guy" listens to you
all as I've read in the past.
I'll keep you posted as best I can.

Hi Gary,    Yes, the Lord does hear our prayers and I have to remind myself
to say "if it be thy will Lord".   We can not always understand the whys of
the things that happen in our lives and I am not in any hurry to sit at the
feet of my Lord where all will be understood. :-)

See how fast you guys work! You must really scare the "Big Guy" 'cause He
don't mess around when you call. lol
Talked to mom this morning and they have sent dad home with stronger nitro
patches and a script for plavenol or plaquinal or something like that. Mom
says $131 for 30 days worth, but he will get his future meds through the
V.A. so it isn't so bad.
Looks like vacation is a go again as I leave tomorrow night.
Thanks for your help folks!
Amazing stuff,
GaryZ

Ok Donna, just for you hon! and of course for anyone else curious.....
Mike  is now 15. Looking forward to drivers ed next semester. Yikes!
School is the same old story. Starts with all A's and B's and gradually lets
things slide as the year progresses.
B's, C's, and a D in English. Told him if he still wishes to go to college,
he ain't gonna make it that way!
He lives in a cyber world. At night.
His bowling is progressing. His team took first place in their league this
year. Last Sat. he rolled a 279 game.
Left a 7 pin standing in the 6th frame. Ball was a hair light in the pocket.
Otherwise........300.
I'm seeing about getting him a summer job at the University. Haven't heard
yet if he has to be 16 or not.
Next summer when he is 16 he wants to be a counselors aide at the local YMCA
summer camp. He loves
to interact with little kids. He has attended that camp since he was a
little kid himself, so he pretty much knows the program there.
He's now taller than I am and passed my shoe size a couple of years ago. I
still have him in gross poundage though! lol He likes to rest his arm on the
top of my shoulder just to rub it in a little.
Mike told me after this trip to Florida we should save out money for a long
time and go to Sweden. I said I'd like to go to Italy and Greece, but never
considered Sweden. Why there? Turns out he has an on-line girl friend there
he would like to see!! Figures. Asked him if couldn't find a girl friend a
bit closer to home, like in our own town? Someone he could actually touch
and feel?
He's a good kid and I'm very proud of him and tell him so often enough I
think. :-)
That's about it I guess. Thanks for asking.
