I made an appointment with the family doc to see about some infections
that have been brewing. Since he was away, a locum was taking his
place. The replacement happened to be from Cape Town so I asked him if
he knew our own Drdoc. He informed me that he did, and that drdoc was
THE most highly regarded Rd in South Africa. I was pleased to hear it.
We know it, but it is good to hear that he has that recognition in his
country as well.
The voice thingy continues to plague me. I had to give a presentation
at work on Friday for our Professional Development day. When my turn
came to speak my voice was completely gone. My mouth became so dry
and raspy I was embarassed and frustrated. I had spent many days
working on a power point presentation and in planning and organizing.
Somehow I got through it, and my vocal quality improved, but not to
where it should have been. Whether this is a result of Sjogren's and
my sinus problems, or what I am not sure. It is not something I need
when I work with my voice.
My eldest sister is finally starting to improve. She still has a
dressing, and gets it redressed daily. Her stitches from the most
recent debridement come out tomorrow. Her original tkr was on
September 25th, and here it is April already. The docs discovered that
she has diabetes and this is why she was not healing.
I have started something new, and this something is going to use up a
lot of my time. I will still read the newsgroup regularly but may not
post as often as I would like, I will give you more details as things
unfold.
Wishing you good health,

(((((((((((Rose))))))))))) I've gone through virtually-voiceless periods and
I know how very frustrating it is. I hope you and your docs are able to sort
it out soon and can find a solution. You've carved out such a great career
in a field that needs your voice!
Good news about your sister. She must be so totally fed up with this whole
process. It will be wonderful if she can finally heal up to celebrate
spring.
Please do come by to keep us updated on how you and your family are doing.
We will miss seeing you here more but, as always, are happy that you continue
to do so much while fighting this disease.
Oh, and that's really cool about Drdoc.

Rose, glad your sister's diabetes was discovered. They should be able to
make things work now, and I can only imagine how happy she will be when it
has completely healed.
Good news about Dr.doc. Wish he had more time to post on the NG.
Hope your doctor can get you feeling and talking well again very soon.

Rose,
glad to hear your sister is doing better. Sorry to hear it is diabetes that
has caused the infections to not heal. I hope she continues to do well from
here on out.
I sure hope you get the help you need to fix the infections, and your voice
also. I think of you all the time. I know we have talked about the voice
thing. I feel for you with it, as I go hoarse and raspy at times and lose my
voice from the thyroid stuff.
I hope whatever you have started new works out great for you. We will miss
seeing you around much though. We are thinking of you all the time. Love and
hugs.
