I'm looking for someone with the same ailment. I have chronic pain
across my chest constantly. My arthritic doctor says there's nothing
can be done for it but to take medication. Does anyone have any
information? I'm getting to the desperate stage. You can't move any
part of the upper body without using these parts. Doctor says it leans
to rhumatoid but I have osteo in hip, shoulders, ribs and lower back.

Dont have the answer for you shadow, but I do have the same thing going on.
I know how you are feeling. It is a bummer really.
I know when I was on pred it was better but they won't keep me on pred so
not much I can do there.
I hope you are luckier at getting to the bottom of it and getting fixed.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Just knowing there's someone out
there like me helps. You're the very first one I've been able to find.

My chest has gotten so bad, can't mop, move arms for anything like that.
Can't do jig saw puzzles, raise arms, move them much at all.
I do know taking tylenol 4 times a day does help keep some of it at bay, but
not totally. I went off the tylenol for a day, only because I forgot to take
it, boy did I notice a difference. So I told hubby oh well if I kill the
liver or kidneys, so be it, I can't take the pain in the chest and rib cage.
Some things you could look up is, costochrondritis, chest wall pain. Also I
believe some of mine if from myofascia pain syndrome from the back. So hope
that helps you out some.

Me too, Shadow. Actually, there are more people than you may think that
suffer from this. Hope it makes you feel a little better, because it can
get scary at times trying to determine if it's the Arthritis pain or you're
having a heart attack. Nanny

I also have this. I've had inflammation of the breastbone for about
4-5 years. The best that I can do is to take the antiinflammatories.
And you're right, it just plain hurts! And yes! I have been
evaluated twice by a cardiologist just to make sure it's not my heart!
Take care,
Vickie B.

Hi Vickie, I have had that in two different areas of my rib cage. In
both places, I received steroid shots except that in one of them,,, it was
one big shot and in the other area is was 3 small shots. In both cases it
put out the fire,,, I would wish the same for you.

Shadow-
Sounds like it could be costochondritis (sp?). I'd lie in bed unable to
pull up the covers, could not turn a key or door handle, couldn't dress.
It's just awful. It also went away. Jan O'

FINALLY. I was beginning to think no one else had this.
Have you found any information yet? I woke up from hernia surgery and
couldn't put any pressure on my right arm to push myself up. I then noticed
a large knot at the base of my throat. Went to my physcian,
surgeon, then orthopedic. They all said it is osteoarthritis. Had xrays,
and CT scan. Now it is starting in the other joint on the left side. I used
to to teach painting classes, can't do that anymore. I am having trouble
reaching for things, chest pain to the point of feeling like it's a heart
attack and muscular
spasms. Turning over at night is a majoy chore. Mopping, doing the dishes,
picking up a gallon of milk. Can't find any help. Pain meds are the only
thing that helps temporarily.
