AUDIO BOOKS -- LIST
1. "Digital Fortress", by dan brown; on 5 cds -- it's an intregue about the NSA, a code-breaking machine that runs up against a code it cannot break. the NSA is virtually held hostage, by an unreleased encyption code that could cripple u.s. intelligence. kept me guessing and interested.
2. "Metro Girl", by janet evanovich; on 8 cds -- it's a misadventure with high stakes, as the heroine tries to locate her missing brother and runs up against all kinds of unsavory characters, an unexpected partner in the search, murder and cuban secrets. fun romp.
3. "Marker" by robin cook; on 14 cds -- about a medical examiner who tries to unravel why so many young and seemingly healthy people die in various hospitals after successful minor surgeries. her instincts tell her there's a clever healthcare serial killer on the loose, when it doesn't look that way to criminal investigators. fascinating and gripping plot line.
4. "Manhunt" by janet evanovich; on 4 cds -- romantic comedy, set in alaska.
5. "A Whack on the Side of the Head" by roger von oech; on 1 cassette tape --"how you can be more creative", "break through your mental blocks" . . . "for innovative thinking . . ."
RULES: 1. don't send your available audio books or movies to me, please.
2. do send them directly to whomever is on the waiting list (puts their name under the title) for the title you have in your possession.
3. do let me know which audio books or movies you want to contribute to the list and if they are on tape or cd or dvd. just let me know the title, author and how many tapes, cds, dvds make up the book or movie. if you want to write a short blurb about it, that's cool, too. i can cut and paste your blurb. you can do this on asa, in the "circulating library" thread or via my private email.
4. do let us know which audio books or movies you want to be on the waiting list for, by typing your name under its title on the thread posted as subject: "ASA's Circulating Library".
5. do let me know when you receive any audio book or dvd from the "circulating library" waiting list, so i can remove your name. i don't need to know which book or movie.
6. don't request books or movies on the waiting list, until you've sent the one you have in your possession to somebody else on the waiting list. later, when the lists get longer, we can modify how many a member can have in their possession.
7. do clue me in, asap, when you suspect a name on the waiting list is an interloper or non-asa member, you suspect is trying to get something for nothing and not play by the rules. make sure you know what you are telling me is true, first, please. i will revise the list and drop that name from the list, quickly.
8. many of us know each other's snail mail addresses. however, should that not be the case---the person with the available book in possession should contact the waiting list person, by private email, for their snail-mailing address information. a PING-ing of that waiting list person might be helpful to get the ball rolling if their e-addy on group is not accurate.
9. i understand that some audio books or dvds will get lost or damaged beyond usability. we all need to understand this and not become attached to the books or movies we've donated to this endeavor. some of us simply cannot afford to replace some of these very expensive audio book sets or even dvd movies. no biggie. the damaged or lost book or dvd will simply be dropped from the list of availables. if it gets replaced or found again, fine. if not, that's ok, too. i just need to be kept informed that a book or dvd needs to be dropped from or added to the list. agreed????

d'huit - 31 Mar 2006 06:14 GMT seeing as how there seems to be just a handful interested in this library, at the moment, i think there's no reason not to let you few pick out however many you'd like from the list. just hang onto them, until somebody else asks for them.

no. this is "the" list, hon. you can just pick a number, a title or type your name under the description on the list. i simply list them in the order that i receive them as donations to the library. i wouldn't know how to post this list as spreadsheet on asa and that's not really a skill i want to acquire.<smile> however, if you'd like to create a spreadsheet out of this list, i have no objection to that.

PS I'm still floating on cloud nine. We had division competition in Toastmasters today and I won in the Table Topics. In Table Topics, for those who aren't familiar with Toastmasters, you are given a topic and you have one to two minutes to speak on it. The topic today was "Did they have antiques in the olden days?" Since they consider items from my high school days as antiques on Antiques Roadshow, I thought I could speak very well on that! I had lots of fun, too.

I have been reading your books - just finished CeeCee Wilkes. I liked the way you incorporated the RA without letting it overwhelm the story. Very well done.
Just got back from the oral surgeon three hours ago - had a bone graft and implant done. It feels stiff now, but will hurt a bit soon. It's not nearly as extensive as the one I had done a couple of years ago on both sides of lower jaw at the same time, so it shouldn't be as bad. It's a beautiful day outside, which always helps when your inside is restricted a bit. I'm supposed to bed rest, but can't stay there too long - so am putzing on the keys.

hey thanks, janice! just give me the title, lead actors'/stars' names, how many disks and the viewers' rating (like R, PG-13, PG, G . . .etc.) and i'll post your dvd's information on the list. when somebody asks for your dvd, then you mail it directly to that person and they, in turn, will mail it to the next person who requests it.
