My grand mother is suffering from osteoporosis since sometimes . this
disease is a bone disease in which the amount of bone density is
decreased and the structural integrity of trabecular bone is impaired.
Cortical bone becomes more porous and thinner. This makes the bone
weaker and more likely to fracture.
Is there any effective medication  which could relief her from such
condition ?

She needs to check with her doctor.  Some people use Fosomax, and I can't
think of the name of the other one right now, but both have to be prescribed
by a doctor.

One of the others is Actonel which is also by prescription only.  Fosamax
made my legs swell so I was switch to Actonel and have had no problems.
Actonel gave my wife problems.  So everybody's system is different.

Ya, ellilomaba you can go for actonel .Actonel is used to treat
osteoporosis . it is also used to prevent the diseaae .I think this
medicine will be helpful to your grand ma  as it is used to prescribe
for bone thinning due to menopause . It is also used to treat the
Paget's disease of the bone .you can get more information on this
medicine from the following sites :
http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/druginfo/Actonel.HTM
http://www.drugdelivery.ca/s3103-s-ACTONEL.aspx
http://drugs.com/Actonel.html
But while taking Actonel  you should  observe proper diet rich in
Calcium and Vitamins  for better performance of the medicine.
As per the dosage consult the doctor .

Bisphosphonate drugs are commonly used, but there can be side effects
with the intravenous ones such as osteonecrosis of the jaw (and kidney
damage if infused too rapidly). There's an oral medication marketted
under the name Actonel (risedronate sodium) that I take to improve my
bone density and it works. It's a once a week tablet.

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:
