Harv, At one time, not that long ago I still had a few dozen family
members scattered between Amarillo and Lubbock. Now its down to about 6
that have managed to hang on to a way to make a living there. This past
weekend I talked to my oldest friend from childhood who was preparing
to evacuate. No one has ever seen anything like this. He said It feels
a lot like Armageddon and had no other way to describe it. There are
times when everything is on fire for 360 degrees with no exit
direction. That makes the situation extra dangerous and unique.

They can use our thoughts and prayers, fer sure.

I know a lot of the midwest was hit by tornadoes yesterday and today,
let us know you're OK! Dylan and I were fortunate to not be in the path
of any tornadoe, but the rain, thunder, and lightning was horrific all
of last night. Our puppies *hate* storms and thus we didn't get any
sleep last night.

Oh Ashley,

we had a thunder storm the other day that scared me to death. I saw this one
bolt of lightning go across the sky and it was red and orange. I never saw
it that color so figured whereever that hit, it was bad.

Glad you didn't get the tornadoes.

I have never been in a tornadoe before, having spent my entire life up
until now in California. When I moved Dylan said, "If there is ever a
tornadoe warning go to the basement with the puppies!" At work today we
had a drill with the kids to show them what to do in case of a
tornadoe. I told my boss afterwards, "I'm glad we did this, not only
for the kids, but I wouldn't know what to do either!" because our
building doesn't have a basement or storm shelter. She nodded her head
and said, "Oh my goodness! I should have told you when I hired you! I
knew you were from the west coast it didn't occur to me that you
wouldn't know what to do in a storm!" LOL.

No tornados here, but horrendous thunder and lightning. Then this morning we
had a hail storm. It only lasted about 5 minutes but was pretty intense. I
kept thinking, "Don't you break my windshield!" 'cause my car won't fit in
the garage yet due to unpacked boxes.

Thats about what our hail storm yesterday looked like too  DeeTee. But boy
we had thunder and lightening for about two hours. The hail storm lasted
about 10-15 min.

We did ok though.

We got clobbered yesterday with hail and thunder and heavy rain.

Kayla likes outside.  Doesn't mind rain and cold.  Doesn't even mind wind up
to a point.  She drew the line at thunder.  I am having a heck of a time
getting her to go outside today as well.

Hi everyone,

Reporting in from  Harrisonville, Cass County. Missouri in West Central
Missouri.
We had plenty of very strong winds, lots of rain and hail. It came in
waves as it
progressed across the state from South to North.  We were so fortunate.
 we were like
an oasis missing each tornado threat as they passed over us or around us
throughout
the entire day and night.  it started for us at 6:15 AM Sunday and ended
at 3:00 AM
on Monday.

We suffered no damage of any type. Our hearts and thoughts go out to
those families who
were not as fortunate as we.

Our only casualties were our absolutely exhausted Pappilion (JP), our
Tibetian Terrier
(Zak) and our two cats,  Jake and Jewel who sacked out for almost the
entire day today.

I am glad to see so many check in, Cindy, Harv, Dee Tee, Ashley, Gary, Don.
Glad to see you all made it.

We made it thru the tornado warnings yesterday and the hail. We have been
thru hail yesterday with all the lightning, thunder, hail and tonado
warnings. ;-)

Hope the rest in Calif did ok yesterday too.

I sure hope KJ and Kimmy are ok, and Debbie M, and Gwen, and anyone else
that I can't think of at the moment that was in the area of the bad weather
and wildfires.

I am not sure where Jean is located as to the wildfires.

Jo, we only had strong, straight blowing wind here.  But it did bring in a
very cold front.  Monday was almost hot, and last night I went with my
children to a baseball game and nearly froze.  We sat on a beach towel on
the aluminum bleachers and wrapped in beach towels and blankets, and were
still very, very cold.  Supposed to be warm again next week.

Gwen, Glad you made it thru with no tornados. I don't know how you did that
at the game. Oh I hurt just hearing about it.  The day it hailed. Jim and I
were standing in the garage watching it. Boy I got the worse burning pain
across chest and going into the ribs at the side. Never had the burning pain
so bad. It went away after about ten fifteen minutes in the house and with
my sweather wrapped around me good.

Jo,

I can sympathize with Kayla. I don't like thunder or lightening either. I
wouldn't go outside either. LOL

Yes, but fat lot of good she would be if she were down in Galt where she was
born, and responsible for a herd of sheep this week.  She goes back soon for
a week of training but probably not until the middle of April.

Then I understand there are places that have sheep that will let you bring
your dog out once or twice a week for several hours and let them work.  Burn
off some of this unlimited energy.

Hi,
The worst of it stayed in the county to our south and got worse further
south. We heard a lot of thunder from it
but had very little of anything else to worry about. I do enjoy a good
thunderstorm. It's the microbursts and
tornados I can live without!

Hi Cindy,,,  I did not know it was into OKla. also.  I am very sorry to read
that.  Sure,,,, I will join you in a little dance but it will have to be
like Diane's --- in my dreams.   I was doing some painting and replaced a
board or two on the house.  That roof and ladder has me hurting in places
that I had forgotten were there.   It was so pretty today in the low 70's
and that dry north wind blowing.  Can you imagine???  Houston with a fire
warning and noooo burning allowed...  So it goes and lets try to work up
some rain.....

Harv
Cindy - 15 Mar 2006 16:01 GMT
Thanks Harv...Sorry to hear you over extended your bod a little..;-)
My couin also lives in Houston...That is strange to hear that you have  a
burn ban there....
We had some fires on Sunday that they think people deliberatly
started...WHAT...Go figure...What is wrong with people....Today is very dry
with warmer temps and howling winds...Fire danger is extreme...I told my Mom
yesterday...God has his reasons...He will send the rain soon...We just can't
see them right now....
Hugs Cindy
