It seems that every time I try to keep up with ASA I fall more and more
behind! This year has started out in whirlwind form and I don't think
it will settle down until after my wedding. Dylan and I are both
working and planning our wedding, plus I'm taking 12 credit hours at
the college. Needless to say, neither one of us has time for much of
anything else!

I'm surviving my first winter in the midwest, although everyone says it
has been a fairly nice one. I like the weather when it's in the 20s -
40s and the snow isn't that bad either. It does get quite chilly when
it drops below zero! I'm looking forward to spring and seeing the
sunshine again. It will also be nice to see something GREEN! I can't
wait to see our garden bloom this year, I put a lot of work into
planting bulbs and mums in the fall.

My FMS and hypothyroid are staying mostly under control, but drastic
weather changes usually cause a sudden flare. My current medications
are steady and working which is a continuing blessing. I don't know
what I would do right now if I slipped into a flare... I have too much
going on! I developed chronic migraines this winter and am now on
medication three times daily to prevent them. I was very incapacitated
for awhile, but now I'm down to around 1 migraine per week. It's not
great, but it's livable. I see my doctor in a few weeks to re-access my
medications.

I got the flu a few weeks ago and it was killer. It wreaked havoc on my
asthma and I went back to using my nebulizer twice daily for about a
week to help with my congested and wheezing lungs. I was luckily able
to take a week off of school and work to recuperate while I was sick
which was a blessing. I'd probably still be sick if I had to push
through it all. Dylan is currently getting over the flu and we're both
run down and exhausted. Somehow we push through, although at times
giving up seems like an easier answer.

In hindsight, I wish I had hired a wedding planner to help me. I think
that would make my life much more stress-free, but nearly everything is
worked out. We're currently trying to book our honeymoon. We wanted to
go to Hawaii, but now we're considering the Caribbean. I just want to
lay out on a beautiful beach, watch the ocean, and drink margaritas!

That's all for now!

Hugs,
Ashley

Ashley,

It is good to hear from you. I have been thinking of you also but spaced
your name when I was asking for updates.

I hope things will soon settle down for you and Dylan.

It sure does sound like you have a plate full that you are doing and dealing
with. ;-)

I can't wait to hear about your garden being in bloom. I love to hear about
garden stories since I can't garden anymore.

I feel for you with the fms and hypothyroid. I know that is miserable to
deal with but glad to hear it is staying under control. I hope the migraines
continue to keep getting better. I hope you are wearing sunglasses when
outside and using a glare thingy for your puter. I read where that helps
with migraines.

I feel for you with that flu. I know how it messes with the asthma. I hope
ou are doing much much better with it now.

Oh that sounds so cool about the Caribbean honeymoon. Can I go along. LOL
;-)

Wishing you the best in all things.

Thanks Squirely!

I wear tinted glasses with anti-reflective coating on them to help keep
the migraines at bay. I now can say that I see the world through
rose-colored lenses! :)

I can only garden a little bit at a time because it is hard to be on my
hands and knees for too long. And it's an even bigger problem trying to
get back up again!

They have a thing at Home Depot and other garden centers that gives you
something soft to kneel on and has arms on the sides you can use to help you
get up.  Kind of looks like a small upside down bench.

Wish I'd had one years ago when my knees still worked a little bit.

I have one of those. If you set it up one way, you can kneel on it; if
you set it up the other way (flipped over), you can sit on it.

It sounds like a wonderful honeymoon plan to me - whichever island you end up
on.  With the winter the two of you are having, it should be especially
appreciated!

I can't imagine chronic migraines.  I only get about 3 or 4 a year and that
is hell enough.  I've managed to work through them in the past, but studying
was almost impossible when I was in school.  I'd only try if something
absolutely had to be done THEN.  I hope they can fine tune your meds a bit
more to make it even better.

And yes, green will be so nice!  It's been a really strange winter here -
very mild January, brutal February, mild March thus far - even up to 50
today!  This past few days have been late April weather.  I started my first
batch of seeds indoors to be ready for late-May planting.  Have quite a
vegetable garden planned, hoping the flower garden from last year pretty much
comes back up on its own.

Nann,

November and December were harsh for us, but Jan/Feb/March hasn't been
too bad. I certainly got my fill of below zero and snow in December!
Then I went home for Christmas and had an eighty degree Christmas in
California. That was a shocker on my body!

I will be planting a section in Dylan's Grandmother's vegetable garden
at her farm this spring. Our yard is too shaded to have a truly good
one and the puppies would just love it to death!

Congrats on the upcoming wedding.

[Flu has me in its mean grip right now. It is 3:28 AM here and I'm
up...again. I slept 2 hours total Friday into Saturday but got nearly six
last night in two three hour shifts. This throwing up at both ends really
sucks.]

In all your running around and organizing stuff, just remember to take a few
minutes each day for Ashley. That's the best way to stay strong enough. Hope
your wedding is wonderful and where ever you decide to honeymoon, make it
warm. LOL
