My Dr used the Orencia help center to see where I stood so far as using
it with coverage by Unit.ed Health Care. The Orencia Center was unable
to decifer my coverage, but it looks like it will be considered under
my major medical- not prescription- coverage. Which means satisfying my
deductible, max out of pocket expense, and then 80% coverage. This is
just what they said about Remicade for two years, before giving it
prescription coverage.

So I have not started Orencia yet. I am now trying to find out what my
financial liability would be with Orencia, but finding out the actual
cost of Orencia is about as easy as getting insurance coverage! I'm
still 2 years away from retirement, so I'll need to continue working if
my employer will keep me at diminished capability.

Martin,
Are you saying Remicade is no longer covered under major medical? Just
curious, as my major medical pays 80/20 after deductible, but my
prescription plan only pays 60%.  What do the Remicade injections
usually cost?

Thanks,
Mark

If you are an average person financially,,, too much and even with good
insurance it cost me a third more than Enbrel.   Someone that is still on it
can tell you what the price is today.

well, i am on a massive dose of remicade, so i'm sure others' infusions
are less than mine. when i lived in virginia, i got them at the
hospital and the statement from the hospital read $8000(!).  i paid
$20.

now in NC, i get them in the doctor's office and i have to pay 10%
because i have new insurance. the cost is around $5000 and i pay 10%.
not fun, but neither is RA.

No, my Remicade is covered as a prescription- $25.00 to me. But Orencia
is still considered "major medical", as was Remicade when I first tried
it. So I have hopes that United Healthcare may extend prescrition-style
coverage eventually.
