I've been ordered by my doctor to have a lumbar epidural injection for
my disc bulge of the L5-S1 area.  I've searched the groups section and
have not found any recent feedback and was wondering what the opinion
is regardin lumbar epidural injection vs having the surgery?

Comments are greatly appreicated as I still seek a second opinon.

Least invasive progressing to most invasive (if needed).
Taking a knife to your lower back and spine is risky business with no
guarantees.

Steroid? This is usually minimally painful and rarely with complications
in the hands of a skilled operator.. often an anesthesiologist.
However,  results are varied but worth a try before surgery. Often a
series of injections is done. HTH.

I have had at least ten in my lifetime.  I have AS and yes they've
worked.  My PT is also using light traction on me which helps
immensely.  Try traction as well.  Good luck.
