Hi all, wondering if anyone here have had this problem.
I've had a hip arthoscope where all surgeon found was a slight tear to
front cartridge, which he repaired. However hip didn't settle down.
After an MRI there was a indication of an Ossified body (which I now
know means a floating bone in the hip / pelvic cartridge area.)
So he got a CT scan done and although I don't have the report, the
scans I do have and in one image I believe I can see the bone.
But this may not totally explain my hip pain
If I or anyone even just pushes very lightly in this area.
Following your groin to where you can feel the top of your hip /
pelvic area, sort of where one's gut ends and pelvic starts. and go
all the way along to you are about 2 inches in from the outside of
your hip. Wish I knew exactlt what that area was called!!
In a male is along your belt line or just below it..

The pain and tenderness there is unbearable for me.
My GP feels I may have a compressed nerve and I will be getting
surgeon to examine that area this Thursday
Surely a MRI would of picked up a problem there???

Thanks I look forward to any replies

Phil - Do a google search on Pelvic Floor Disfunction. Read the
articles that relate to Men and this problem The area you are talking
about is seldom addressed by Drs or PT's but when your legs, back or
hips are unable to do the work they were intended to do because of
disease or injury, the pelvic floor muscles pick up the pace. The can
develop all kinds of pains that seem like they are coming from the hip.
I went thru 10 months of mis-diagnosis till I found out about this. I
thought it was all a fake dx till I looked more into it. It's real. And
the right combo of dr and pts can really help. Hope you have nothing
more serious! There is one muscle in there I believe its starts with an
"O" -- Really reminds me of what you are describing.  DianeW

Here are some places to read tha I googled for you. Left a message in
the group as well

Ilioinguinal Nerve Compression -

http://www.fpnotebook.com/ORT263.htm

Obturator Nerve Compression -

http://www.fpnotebook.com/ORT265.htm

What I found today when I googled Pelvic Floor Dysfunction was mostly
as it related to Urinary and Bowel problems. But if you read deeper in
the literature you come up with the other hip pain type stuff.  Those
two nerves I referenced at the top will get you started. Hope it helps

Thanks Diane
for the info and links,
the bowel one I will check out as I have a basically in active Crohns
Diease ( inflmatory bowel dieease)
There is down in that area a fair bit of scar tissue from small bowel
resection surgery 11 years ago.
Whether it is link, who knows, but I am fairly sure that it doesn't do
my lumbar spine again good, as there is some degernation of l4/l4, s1
facet joints and a bloating / inflamming bowel will not help that
area.
Al I can do about that is get facet joints nerves blocked
as no one knows how to get rid of adhesions and after 3 bowel
surgeries, my gastro and co are reluctant to touch bowel again unless
really required.

Now back to hip.

CT scan clearly showed a small bit of bone right wher hip meets
pelvic, even I can make it out on scans.
It is right where the cartlidge is, and matches where I am very sore
and tender, surgeon feels I was probably born with it, which is
possible as I've always had a problem with this left hip as back as I
can remembe, but nothing like last 5 years. for example if I did some
breast stroke swimming, I may get sharp pain on the outside of hip.
He is very reluctant to cut bone out, well that is the impression he
gave me.
He has ordered another guided Long lasting Anasethic / Steriod
injection for Monday, if it settles down, great, if it doesn't then
I'm going to get a second opinion and maybe a nerologist in case a
nerve is compressed as my GP suspects.
As the other blocks over last six years have worked except for the two
last August, (well worked for say 12 months at a time)
and the bone peice has been there all the time.
heres hoping block works this time.
keep well
Phil
