Returned From the Funeral

We just returned from the funeral early this morning.  It was incredibly sad
but incredibly uplifting as well.  It was hard to leave everyone, knowing
how much pain is yet to be felt.  About 450 people attended, about half of
which were family.

The flight home was a little exciting as we had a hard time landing in
Baltimore.  We had to change runways twice and make three passes before
being able to land.  Those pilots really earned their pay this morning.

It then took an hour and a half to make the 20 mile trip home from the
airport.  We left the airport at 1:30 am and the freeway hadn't been touched
yet.  We were going through several inches of fresh snow the whole way.

We are just all glad to be home and safe, but wish we were back in Utah at
the same time.

{{{{{{Hanks Family}}}}}} Glad to hear you're safe. Rob says they got about
14" at their place, although Linda only got 3-4 up in Frederick.  Guess it's
just where you live. We here in Ohio are still just getting flurries.

((((((((all the family)))))))))  it is so hard to have to leave again.  we
learned that when my dad died just as we finished unloading the u-haul after
our move to boston.  we had to take mike to the airport straight from the
memorial service.  i stayed a few days longer but it still was so hard to
leave my family.

glad you got home ok, though.  we had 16" of wet, lake effect snow here last
sunday and it was such a mess.

Sending good thoughts and prayers to the whole family.

So glad you made it back safely.

[ I remember driving south out of Baltimore (city) on the highway (295?)
with an inch or so of snow on the ground, seeing the car next to me fishtail
a little and seeing the driver - a girl around 20 years old - covering her
eyes and screaming. Spent 3 years there in Law School (U. of Baltimore).
Snowy times were the worst because there wasn't enough snow removal
equipmant and people had no idea how to drive in snow.]

It is so hard to go through something like that and then have to worry
about the weather, too.  My prayers are with you and your family.
