My doc is going to start me on Imuran if my labs say it is ok. Has
anyone taken it and if so, please let us know about your experience
with it. My liver seems to hate everything that helps my RA. Am
desperately needing something that will help. Since I had to quit
Arave b/c of my liver and methotrexate and Humira and...... and........
and..... Everything is flaring and terribly painful. Any suggestions
and experiences are welcome.
Thank you and GOD bless

I think Rose has been on it. My doctor won't let me on it because I had
such a bad reaction to mtx. My wbc plummetted and wouldn't come back up for
months and that was after 2 doses of 7.5 mg. He might try me on a smaller
dose heavily watched at the end of the year. No other choices with the
exception of trial drugs - again. Then again I have about a year to wait
anyhow until my reaction to enbrel is completely gone. I know the feeling
Angela.
In the meantime, ice, heat, splinting, range of motion, painkillers and
physio. that is my treatment right now - oh and low dose prednisone.

I have. I did not care for it much as it caused abdominal pain and
discomfort. I can not remember that it helped much. I took it in
combination with mtx, celebrex, and plaquenil.
The best so far fomr me has been enbrel.

Some doctors say that Hidden Food Allergies may be triggering your
arthritis. The in-office testing performed by allergists are not good
at detecting some food sensitivities. There are some good books at the
library about this. Try, "Dr. Braly's Food Allergy and Nutrition
Revolution". You can also try talking to a naturopathic doctor (Yellow
Pages) for 5 minutes. An alternative doctor (www.acam.org) might also
have some suggestions.

I took it a few times, and had to be taken off it because of an
allergic reaction.

I have been on Imuran for a few months and it has helped me! The first
thing I noticed was the swelling in my ankles was gone..I have less
flares. I have not had any bad side effects either..Think positive..this
maybe the one that will help you..I have tried Kinert and Arava without
any relief..Years ago I had a positive TB test so have been unwilling to
take many of the other choices..Good luck

Good advice Connie. I also tested positive for TB and went through the many months of the medicines to clear it out of my system. I hope you did too.
