MIA?

Newsgroup Spambuster - 09 Feb 2006 23:26 GMT Anyone ever hear from some of our regular MIA people?
I haven't seen Anne post in a very long time and think of her often. Also wonder if anyone ever hears from Dan anymore or Rev. Sue or Melinda or Kendall or Ashley or KJ or Sarah L or even Duckie! What ever happened to the fella that used to post that had had recent gastric bypass? I'm sure there are others that are missing that I can't think of right now and you can add their names to the list, but I do still think of them and wonder what is going on with them and how they are doing. So, if any of you have any regular contact with any of them, perhaps you could update us a bit or even better, perhaps you could prompt them to post an update themselves!

Ashley - 10 Feb 2006 04:11 GMT I'm here.... checking in every few days and just lurking. Busy with work (teaching preschool), classes at the university, and planning my wedding. Luckily it's been a fair winter in Indiana and hasn't been making me flare.
Hugs for everyone, Ashley

Kelly - 13 Feb 2006 04:13 GMT Missed you Char. Wish things were going better for you but want you to know I think about you regularly. Will keep hoping for the miracle that works. Personally myself I figure that a lightening strike is going to come down and get me and make me better all of a sudden. that is my only hope now! You take care of yourself - thanks for letting us know you are still occasionally reading.

Newsgroup Spambuster - 14 Feb 2006 00:57 GMT Char and Kelly,
Might the new med orencia be of some help to the both of you? Sure hope so!
Kelly, I haven't been around much to know what your situation is, but I'm guessing from your post that enbrel hasn't been all that successful for you? I think that is what you are on right?
Really praying that orencia will be the magic bullet that both you and Char need to get you back to doing well and rejoining us here in ASA!!!
Hugs!

Kelly - 14 Feb 2006 05:48 GMT The enbrel was great for 3 years (or as great as it gets for me) but in October I suddenly had a neurological reaction to the enbrel. Basically it has left me with ms like symptoms. Off all ra meds but the prednisone and on all sorts of wonderful drugs for spasticity and nerve pain. None of them really do the trick so my pain level is really high all the time. Demerol does not seem to touch the nerve pain either. I feel stoned most of the time. Apparently it will eventually go away. Hope so. I am using a walker now and part of the time a cane. The urological problems and bowel problems are still there as well. The worst is not being able to drive - we live in the country. Anyhow enough whining. It will go away eventually. And in another year when it goes away and I can go back on a ra drug there will be a trial waiting for me (I can't go back on any of the meds approved in Canada so need to find another drug trial. Luckily my RD is involved in many drug trials so he can offer his patients some choices when they get to my stage. Thanks goodness. )
Anyhow off to bed. Thanks Donna - it will get better. My prayers right now are on their way to Char. Been too long for her.

How is it going these days for you?
If anyone has a post from Mama Char, could you email it to me because I missed that one. I want to know how she is doing.

Kelly - 19 Feb 2006 01:07 GMT I'll answer both of you. I am walking much better but the pain is still incredible and I get tired quite quickly which of course affects the walking. The zanaflex has been causing major problems - at least we think that is what is causing them. Of course the major problems could be the ms like symptoms too. I get these "spells" where my speach slurs, my walking skills disappear for lack of better words, I can't swallow, I turn white as a ghost and almost pass out - not dizzy but fading out. they last anywhere up to 3/4 hour to an hour and then I sleep for about 3 hours straight after. So we are putting my zanaflex down to next to nothing, trying "brownies" so to speak at night. We will see if that ends the spells. If so we know it is the med not the symptoms. In the meantime still no driving so after 4 1/2 months I am slowly going crazy. The good news is the house should be finished the renos by the second week of April and we will put it on the market and buy a house closer to bus service or close to town. That should help. In the meantime we wait and hope this just goes away. I desperately need RA meds and anti spasm meds but have used all the spasm meds we think. I just can't get high enough in dose to make a difference.
But my spirits are okay - it is the olympics right? And I am walking better and most of the time until i get tired just with the cane. Any distances or long periods of time (1/2 hour for example) of being out involves the walker. that is okay.
thanks for the concern - we are going to focus on Char now though - she need all our thoughts now. And Squirelly - your husband is going to get the perfect job. It has to come to that!

I know better. Tears and frustration get me nowhere fast. I did find the name of someone else who has ms from the enbrel. Have an email into her to see what happened and if a history before hand. Not pleased to know she has permanent ms and isn't improving but determined that is not going to be me.
in the meantime I am going to Mousetrap with my friend tonight. My husband is going out for a beer and we are going to the play - makes sense to me. I even volunteered to spring for dinner before hand. So something to look forward to.
Anyhow going back to bed for an hour or so. Makes sense to me.
Thanks Squirrely.

I wish you had better news and better days coming your way. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. I am going to be sending your post onto Joe (firechief) when I send his next package of posts and articles to him.
I feel for you. My heart goes out to you big time. I know it has not been easy on you at all.
I also read your post to Denise and she sends her prayers and thoughts also. She can get emails but not the ngs for some reason.
I sure hope things turn around for you big time and soon.

Sorry you are still having such a rough time of it.
I didn't include your name in the MIA's, because we know what is going on with you and you do pop in from time to time to update us on yourself.
Praying that both you and Myron get back to some semblance of normal sometime soon!!!
Hugs,
Donna G
