Hi,
I have developed pain in my feet and hands a couple weeks after severe
insomnia and depression. I've read about fibro and really hoping i
don't have that because I'm just going to be starting grad school this
year (computer science) and if I couldn't do that or keep my career not
sure how I'd justify living. Anyway, the pain is totally symmetric and
is mostly confined to my hands and feet. My neck hurts a little too.
The pain is in my toes, ball of feet, heel of feet, base of palm, third
and second knuckle of fingers. It only hurts when I'm using my hands or
feet or there is pressure. The feet were hurting just a little
immediately following the insomnia, then two weeks later I got a cold
and they got much worse. I've had slight pain in the second knuckle of
my fingers when I had poor sleep in the past, but it always goes away
when my sleep improves (as far back as 1999). It was always restricted
to those joints, and I've never had pain in my feet before last month.
My dr said she will run blood tests if the pain is still present a week
from now. Anyway, just looking for some (hopefully reassuring) info.
Thanks.

I do hope you get on top of this. It is hard to study and put up with
pain at the same time. My suggestion is to get back to the doctor and
ask for the blood tests. You know your body better than anyone else.
There are products on the market that will help you get through it all.
Exercise is very important, do as much as you can. When I say exercise
I mean stretching type exercise - not the fast aerobic type. And watch
your diet. Eat healthy fruit and veges. Cut out the sugars and fats
and cut down on the red meats.
best of luck

It will take a doctor to give you a correct dx. Fibro is more of an
all over muscle pain. Like when you have the flu, except worse. You
need test to make a good dx. Hope you feel better soon.
